As a kid in 1969 -1970, I can remember our neighbor had this exact same car, black but with black inside. He was an avid drag racer and had blown the motor and so it sat parked in the alleyway behind his house. I can still remember a Roadrunner decal on the quarter panel. This brings back memories!

Love 64 Chevelles. Early 1970, purchased a used 64 Chevelle 2 dr hdtp with 6 cyl stick. Six months later it was sporting a slightly warmed over 68 302 Z28 motor, Pontiac Muncie 4 speed, and a 66 Pontiac GTO posi rear with 3.90 gears. Car originally silver was painted 68 Caddy Nottingham (emerald) green. Great car and quick as it was so light [3100 lbs+ w/o driver]. Great street car for 10 years. Surprised a whole bunch of people on the street. Sold it in 1980 with a 331cisb. Sold the Z motor separately. Wished I had kept it.

Use Permatex The Right Stuff to seal the stat housing. They have one now where you can return the car from service in 1 min. Can be used with or without a gasket. Always fill up the fuel bowls before starting if the car has sat for over 2 wks because today’s gas evaporates fast especially here in Canada since we no longer have ethanol free gas. I use Ethanol Shield from Home Depot in my 70:Z28 to combat water cause ethanol fuel is hygroscopic like brake fluid. Should tilt the camera up so we can see the road. Better visualization of how fast you’re going.😮
@leojt9423Ай бұрын
Thanks for the insight! I resealed it a few months ago and so far it’s holding. The car is now in my shop so fortunately I don’t have to let it sit so long in between visits!

The power is just awesome- Just a quick question - you ever throw a little double clutch action on shifts? I noticed with my older cars, that helps for much smoother shifts, something about the syncros, etc...I don't know the exact reasons but it works!
@leojt94233 күн бұрын
I’ll have to try, I know that if I try to shift into 3rd at full tilt it’ll grind/kick a little. May be too much power for the transmission, too. But I’ll try it!

@@leojt9423 awesome! Let me know! My old 2000 bmw 528i ZF trans can be VERY notchy when the car's cold- I'll double clutch up shifts and it's night and day smooth. Once she's warm, it's butter-licious.

I had the same car with a straight 6 40 years ago. I haven't driven a carbureted car in a long time but to start it cold you're supposed to set the choke by pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor twice then take your foot off the gas then start it.
