That water hole where the starter is supposed to be is covered by the starter and a round gasket..

Just scored one of these for £50! She is in half decent condition considering being 43 years old. She turns over fine. I'll change the impeller and the lower gear box oil. When she arrives. She will push my Zodiac CFR-350 Nice and bonny. Thanks for sharing your video. That outboard is in lovely condition.

I have a 9.5 Sportwin my dad bought new in 1965 from the local Evinrude dealer. I believe he told me he paid around $300.00 for it. Still runs great. The kill switch button dry rotted so i replaced it with a simple toggle switch.

Anyone know how many of these "pumpkins" OMC built over the '64 to '72 run? Had to be millions since there are still a lot of them around half a century later. My friend's shop currently has four on sawhorses called the Pumpkin Patch.

Yeah they actually made them from 1964-1973.We call them toilet bowl motors around here in N.Y. amongst a few local outboard motor guys.Mostly because of the obvious shape and low profile pumpkins are good name too,LOL.I have worked on many of them and love the engineering that went into their design.They must of been made by the thousands to make them for that long of a stretch of time of nine years.I always wondered about quanities produced of certain outboards like the 1958 Evinrude Fastwin 18 how many were made.Would of been nice if the 9.5S had cast iron rods instead of aluminum but either way fun motors & great for inflatables. .....Glenn in N.Y.

She's not runnin' too shabbily for a motor that had a stuck gearcase! Did you replace the bushings? What were the gear teeth looking like?
@josephmills38647 жыл бұрын
You can order any of the missing parts from most Evinrude dealerships or off line..get a parts schematic manual to find part numbers..they are worth replacing and fixing..this motor will last for ever.

I have the same motor only a "72 johnson, i'm also trying to work out some bugs. the biggest problem is an exhaust leak up the lower end, causing the motor to run like crap, the previous owner had cut a hole just above the carb and put a pvc pipe fitting in it,motor runs great now. the motor is complete and runs great! one thing that bothers me is when slowing down from on plane, water comes up so far on the cowling it gets inside.Great video!! keep 'em coming.
