This 1964 Ford promotional film, titled " Look What Has Happened to Falcon for 1964 ", was sent to Ford car dealerships to be used as an in-house Sales personal training film. Sales Personnel were to show the film to potential buyers prior to the test drive. The film highlights technical aspects and features of the new model year. This film was quite an unusual find. The filmstock is regular8 magnetic striped 1B Technicolor. As far as I know the only true Technicolor 8mm films other than these ford films were sold at Disneyland as souvenirs. This film would have been printed on 16mm filmstock and split down the middle to create an 8mm print. The sound stripe and additional perforations would also be added in the process. The film was installed in a Moviepak continuous loop cartridge. The viewing system was a portable viewer manufactured by Fairchild industrial products. It looks something like an old box TV/VCR combo unit. The film image after restoration looks very good for regular8 but lacks sharpness and detail due to the film image being only 3.3mm x 4.6mm.
This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with removing the regular8 film from the Moviepak Movie Film Cartridge. The film came printed on magnetic sound Technicolor film stock. After removal the film was cleaned, repaired, and spooled onto a standard film reel. Next the scanning to digital process was performed on the Lasergraphics Scanstation motion picture film scanner in 2k resolution. This film has excellent color but at times the color bleeds to the left or right, an artifact I have seen before on Technicolor and Cinecolor films. This film has severe discolored grain that looks like sand. The excess film grain noise was removed through multiple processing using Neat Video and the images upscaled to 4k resolution utilizing Topaz AI software. Then color correction, dust and scratch removal, and image sharpening was performed in Davinci Resolve. Finally, the film was downscaled back to 2k for uploading to KZbin. Unfortunately, the sound came out a little wobbly which was a result of the scanning system. If I am able to improve the audio, I will upload an updated film. Thanks For watching.

Very cool. No bells or whistles to go wrong, just a well-built car.

My parents had a ‘60, my grandparents had two ‘61’s and a ‘66 and my aunt had a ‘64. My first car was a ‘61 Comet. We all had good service from these cars.

My Dad's first car was a little red Falcon with a black vinyl interior... with no AC of course.

@@theemulsionalchemist5688 I bought that car when it was new with 49 miles and a manual transmission. The problematic automatic transmission is found in the redesigned 2012 Ford Focus which is a different design.
