Bad Bird - Loved My 65 Mod Bucket Seats center console 4 speed 289
@jamesguidry39953 жыл бұрын
My first new car was a 1964 Falcon Sprint 4-speed factory tach 260 cid small block with chrome engine covers . If I'd have known Ford offered the 289 HI PO in the little Fairlane , that would have been what I would have bought . But I was just 21 at the time . My first car was a1950 Ford 2 dr sedan I was a sophomore in high school . It was black with white tuck & role pleated interior twin short lake pipes & duals out the back all coming from a flathead 6 & one exhaust pipe ! Porta-wall white wall tires black rims and baby moons . Three on on the tree transmission . I was a power shifting 15 year old car gear head to the bone . Those were the glory days ! Love your car man , thanks for the memories .

Thank you very much! Those early 50's "Shoebox Fords" are beautiful cars, the grill is iconic. This is actually my wifes car, she loves old car as much as I do and did a lot of work on this car with me. I wish I hadn't put a H-pipe in it's dual exhaust, just straight pipes, it would have more rap to it like those Lake pipes you mentioned.

thats a beautiful machine bro *!! I've been looking at cars on Volo museum site. my main interest is focusing on the Ford Falcon futura and it must be a standard transmission.
@ruazfast3 жыл бұрын
You might have to buy a Sprint V8 falcon to get a standard in it. At least that's what mine is

Would you like to tell us what exactly do you have under the hood? Or are we just suppose to guess. Ok maybe a 260 with a 2 bbl and a 3 speed manual with some dressy stuff that is suppose to make us think you have some kind of Cobra engine in it. Or you could just let us know why all the Cobra logos are all over the engine.

289cid with Comp Cams 270s solid lifter cam. The cam is bit more mild then I was hoping for, I wish I had gone with the Comp Cam 282s or Nostalgia plus 271 solid lifter cam instead but it runs good but it's a pretty mild cam, my wife loves it and it's her car. The Porter mufflers that are on are a flow thru type muffler but are quieter then I thought they would be too.

@@TheFutura1964 It is a really nice looking car and it reminds me a lot of all the old school hot rods we use to put together back in the day. The 289 is a very good choice for this car. It's probably faster than most of the Mustangs of the same era. Of course you know that the Falcon is the actual bones they used to create the Mustangs anyway.

My wife wanted a car with a automatic transmission, I wanted a 4spd. We wanted the car to look, preform and sound like Ford built it with a Hipo 289cid engine in Falcon from the factory. It has cast iron exhaust manifolds off of a Granada that look like the Hipo 289cid cast manifolds from a Fairlane. The heads have larger valves and some porting too. I'm still tuning and sorting out the timing and carberator adjustments, it only has 800 miles on it since the rebuild.
