1964 MG Midget mk II - will it run after 30 years??? 

Watch as we take this rusty old 1964 MG Midget and try to get her running after being lost in the woods for over 30 years. A former army officers vehicle out of Fort Benning, the car was parked out in the elements and never driven again.
We have big plans for this car, we have a good body with minimal rust that we are going to swap everything over to. Now the only question is, will it run??

Back in the 70s my brother and I messed with MGs and Triumphs. We found out that Ford tractors used Lucas systems back then. We would take a Lucas part to the tractor place and ask for a replacement. When they asked us what tractor it came from we plead ignorance. They looked and found the part every time. It was both local and much cheaper than the dealerships.

Probably find them at an online antique tractor site. Probably cheaper than a site for car parts

Car looked solid from the top down.....lots of surface rust View from the inside shows that it is definitely not, but Still a lot more of it remains then if it were a car (bucket of dust) that was still in England

Yeah, unfortunately the bottom side of it is completely rusted out, the floorboards have completely fallen out of it, and the sills are almost gone. It could be fixed, but simply would not be worth all of the time and effort. That is something that I will be putting the time and effort into on my Triumph GT6 though, since it is a much more rare car.

Dad, your enthusiasm for this one to become a complete Midget after the body swap is obvious. Looking forward to the little guys learning how to do this. One question…have you assessed your ability to actually fit into the driver seat after all your restoration effort? Ask me why I immediately thought of this…’61 Triumph 3A after buying and swapping the transmission…ouch! 🇺🇸⚓️

Yeah, I should fit into it, but may have to get a little stricter on the diet though, lol! The boys are really excited about this one, they really want to get this one on the road and I think it’ll be a perfect little car to teach them to drive in. Thanks!
