Heat the hub in the oven and freeze the bearing, it'll drop straight in and fit tight when back to normal temperature

Which way does the spacer go?
@midgetmakeover2 жыл бұрын
The spacer should be narrow end facing out.

Hi what size were the sockets you used to press the bearings in? Thanks
@midgetmakeover5 ай бұрын
@@rogerboyle6136 Sorry, I don’t recall. Just choose a large one that is slightly smaller in diameter than the outer race of your bearing.

Why do so many of these 'how to' videos not actually show the work being done, just the results?

How do you remove the old bearings, since they're pressed in? I'm at a loss as I want to repack them and replace the seal. Thanks
@midgetmakeover Жыл бұрын
Use a punch and hammer to knock out the old races. Just be careful not to gouge the surface they sit in.

I don't have a drawing, and my car uses the original SUs with no connection to the canister from the carbs.

Hi, many thanks for the vid. I'm considering buying these in repalcement with 34/LJT 25 and 3 MJT 17 which are more than 70 quid EACH. Do you still think GHK1142Q are a good choice?

I can only say that the fit on my hubs was good. With 200 miles on these bearings it’s too early to know about longevity, but I have no reason to expect them to fail. My hubs, spindles, and spacers were all stock and in decent shape.

How did you remove the old ones?
@midgetmakeover3 жыл бұрын
The old bearings were removed with a 1/4" punch and a hammer. There are two channels inside the hub that you can use to knock the old bearing races out from the opposite sides. Just push the spacer to one side and wipe out the old grease and you should see them. Don't use a chisel. For the stud (outer) side place the hub on a block that fits between the studs so you don't knock out the studs by mistake.
