I had a 1959 Austin Mini. 850 cc, 3:06 starter button the floor beside hand brake. Loved that little car.

Definitely prefer the original wheels, there's just something right about the look of them. I've got a Wolseley Hornet in white, red roof, haven't got her running yet but she's going to be a beauty once she's restored.

No looking at the engine bay or boot area. I thought that 1275 Cooper “S”s had twin tanks. Pretty car, but presenter was vague and waffley

I thought they had twin tanks, also - spurred by their use in rallying

Twin tanks were optional on the first cars, standard after 66 i think.

@@Markycarandbikestuff Every Cooper S I have ever seen had twin tanks.

Optional from 62-65 - 66 on they were standard

I had the exact same model in the late 1960's. It was the same date same colour but RHD. They were within my budget and mine cost £260 as I recall. It was a quick car especially after I rebored it to 1340cc and rebuilt the carbs. Unfortunately it met its end in a field. John

What sort of review do you call that? not even a look under the bonnet! I live in Australia and my very first car was a 1966 Mk1 Cooper S, the REAL Cooper S with twin tanks and winding windows. Why is this car LH drive? Nice car shame about the review.

Looks like a bit of a Frankenstein car to me. I doubt it is a genuine Cooper S
@coldlakealta40438 ай бұрын
those seats are certainly not original? my 67 Traveler has nothing of the sort. One extra piece of wheel stalk trivia: you push it in to sound the horn.

The original 10 inch mini wheels were not perforated. Those you fitted as a try out look like they have a circle of holes around the inner rim. The Coopers always looked fabulous with Minilites.
@Markycarandbikestuff8 ай бұрын
Cooper S steels were vented with those holes.
@Roger.Coleman19498 ай бұрын
They are the correct fitment 4.5Jx 10" rims for an early ' S ' in Devon cream .The earlier cars had of course plain 10 "rims.I personally agree with the above comment they just look ' right ' .Minilites are nice but have become a bit of a ' cliche ' after ' The Italian Job ' !.

@@Roger.Coleman1949 Sorry to be pedantic but the Cooper 997's and 998's had plain rims with full wheel trims, the S (first being the 1071) always had vented steels, the ones in the vid are indeed 4.5 but there was a 3.5 version, identifiable as the hub cap on the 3.5's sticks out further than the outer wheel rim. Then there was the over the counter "reverse" rim which was a 5.5 (or maybe 5 ?) deep dished Cooper S steel.

@@Markycarandbikestuff Yes you are right, I do know that the plain Coopers had ' plain ' wheels as a friend has an inherited 1964 one.Personally , I think the vented 3.5s look aesthetically the best with the small hubcaps and even repiicas are being made.Yes, the ' reverse ' ones were 5.0 and remember buying a set in the 70s for my Mk11 1000 to make it look ' hot ', there was an abundance of them , even tyre suppliers sold them for under £10 each !.
