Thanks for humouring us, sorry if we jinxed it? Deffo liked all your simultaneous talking and doing in the beginning... you could lean out the repetition in the middle, and the ending although not happy, was well done too. I was wondering about the plastic sleeve, thought you just hadn’t filmed it. And bolt the flipping vice down!!! :-)

That’s a swine mate. All done things like that. I think a little bit of real time but no need to see too much repetitive screwing but nice to see things once or twice. As always top job.

When I put the brass and roller bearings in I used a length of thread (M14 I think) with a few washers and a nut on each end and "pressed" them in by doing up the nuts. Just a little gentler that hitting them in.

agree , and would recommend that option before this option :) .. my dad has posted me some threaded rod LOL

Tip for the roller bearing.. Get some threaded bar, penny washers or Square of flat bar with hole in as it'll be stronger. Get bearing roughly seated, put nut and washer on one end and pass through the bearing, nut and washer the other side and tighten up with spanner it'll pull the bearing in nicely without damage from hammering!

Dad has posted me some. With bearing to lol

It'll make life easier for you that's for sure, I bought a cheap blind bearing puller a while back so I'll never sacrifice a decent flat head screwdriver again... Still bodge, swear and feck things up though!

I had the bushes reamed by the local engineering company who bored the engine and did some other stuff for me (they still have all the original BMC / BL tools). Got home. Put the bearing in the first arm and .... SHIT! .. plastic tube forgotten! Every day is a school day .... 'Bad News' was I cranked the engine over for the first time Saturday and no oil pressure ... Oooer. Ordered a Cooper S ball and spring from Minispares to replace the original valve, it and other parts arrived yesterday and 'Good News' is 90+ PSI ....

you can knock the bush back out using a long round bar from the roller end with a sharp clean edge to contact the bush :/
@GeeenJ6 жыл бұрын
it happens easy mistake could be worse and put the bush and bearing in the wrong ends whats worseif your doing king pins and ream the bushes out too much

When do you actually have to replace these bearings/bushes on the radius arms? Actually in the process of moving over those to a new rear subframe so I might as well look into the condition of those.
@MattGreenWorks6 жыл бұрын
When they worn out or rusted. Take pins out of yours. Check bearings spin etc. When radius arm on car you can check play. Too
