I absolutely hate putting the radiator and associated shroud in a Mini. I always get extra 1/4" bolts because I drop them and never see them again. What I have done in the past is to notch out the lower holes in the upper shroud so that it can just slide over the top of the center bolts that the upper and lower shroud share. Cheers Matt! Keep up the great work!

You made me miss my 75 mini clubman 1275 GT. Think I’ll find a working one and get it for weekend driving. Soon

Matt, you've GOT to make it. I'm coming from Glasgow, looking forward to seeing this and hopefully having a pickup related chat.

The Haynes manual in one hand a cup of coffee in the other will get you there!! The Mk1 radiator is a pain, if I ever get a Mk1 again I will modify it with an electric radiator mounted in the front (keeping the coolant level in line with the cylinder head). I believe the latter Mk2's (with fuel injected motors) have a front mounted radiator, can anyone confirm please.

As the Italians say: 'Sempre Domani'. There is always tomorrow. And yes my OCD WAS twitching .... If you are stuck for that top bracket I can lend you mine to get it up and running? Not exactly anywhere near needing it as the finished engine and gearbox is sat on a bench and doesn't have a finished car to go into!

@@chrismarshall7220 I think the expression is 'Moving swiftly on ...' I run spreadsheets (yes sad old bugger) and mine has cost £4,551 to date including buying the original car / bits pile which didn't include an engine / gearbox Minis are not a cheap hobby.

I've enjoyed the series but can I ask why you didn't have the radiator fitted before you fitted the engine to save this hassle
@MattGreenWorks5 жыл бұрын
Does make it trickier to fit. Also allowed me to do brake lines etc after engine.

Ps. Remember I film in real time. So I do make mistakes. So yes there could be different ways to do things. That’s why I love people to comment. Allows people who watch videos later to see all options

@@MattGreenWorks I'm currently restoring a 1963 as a mk1 s replica. I've lost count the number of minis built so that's why I've enjoyed you giving it a red hot go. Top effort

always hated fitting mini radiators there a pain in the butt most times people would put longer bolts in the sides and put holes through the tubes
