Nice looking car. Plymouth finally gave the front end an attractive makeover.

I sure remember when these were common. Nice to see one again - especially one in such good condition and so well equipped! I love those bucket seats.

This one is in beautiful shape, and with that A/C makes it a very practical car for Florida! Thanks! :) Jack

@cheddyrod Hey, Chester! Cool that you had experience with the car! The engine certainly would win prizes for performance and durability...and by this time, the styling was very conventional. Thanks! :) Jack

@64valiantsteed Yes indeed...a good friend of mine had that car, complete with the new 273 soon to be 318 c.i. V8, and four speed shifter on the floor. Awesome car..and it showed what could be done with the same underpinnings! You've got a beautiful car there...great paint! Thanks! :) Jack

Hello! Beautiful little car, and looks like new! I love the bucket seat interior and the hardtop design. I would have liked to buy that car; I was born in '64. That would be extra special. That air conditioning unit looks primitive compared to the ones we have today! But I bet it works. The '64 was the first year a V-8 was offered in the Valiant, and the last year for the pushbutton transmission shift. What a beautiful little car!

Hey, William! People do have an attachment to items that mark their birthdays! The nice part about the A/C unit is that the evaporator is right there, under the dash. If a leak develops, there's no taking the dash apart...or at least not as much. Thanks! :) Jack

A very sporty compact. My father had a V200 with the 225 6 cyl and in my opinion at this time Mopar really had the best compacts. Nice to see one again especially in this fine shape.

I wish this were my car, but it's one I videoed at a car show. I can understand the need for speed! Thanks! :D Jack

My favourite Valiants were built from 1967 through 1972.

I agree...it's a nice example, and the car had a good reputation for longevity and good mechanical advances. Thanks! :) Jack

Looks like a good car and a rare find. I like the colour of the upholstery, nice and light and airy, though the dash has a kind of slightly hard look to it to my eyes, lots of painted metal and straight lines! :o)

Hey, Jason! I'd agree to that...the more squared off design was more pleasing to me. Thanks! :) Jack

Nice car. I couldn't keep mine all original like you did because I have the need. The need for speed.

@rx6180 Hey, Mick! Yeah...the upholstery on these cars was pretty good...and durable. The dash itself was painted metal..the instrument cluster was a plastic piece with the instruments imbedded. Rudimentary by today's standards, and unforgiving if unrestrained passengers hit their heads on it in a collision. Thanks! :) Jack

Hey, Jason! Yes indeed...the styling became much more mainstream starting in 1963. Thanks! :) Jack

I liked the Lancer grille on the 1st gen. I've read that the Lancer was to be a DeSoto and was delayed, then early in '61 DeSoto was cancelled and the car became a Dodge Lancer. The curves are cool, but the big Chrysler inspired grille and headlight treatment was not the best - fixed by the Lancer, I think

Just wanted to add, not to forget the Debut of the Barracuda Model that came out in that year on the same chassis and with the same body lines, plus one very large rear window. The 1964 Valiant convertible is what I have in my garage. Check it out on my channel if you have time. Oh, and the dash is sort of the plain Jane look, but overall these are so easy to work on, unlike a new car. Thanks for posting this fine example of a 1964 Valiant Signet 200.

Hey, Jason! I think the back end was a bit controversial, too..with the fake "continental" spare. Thanks! :) Jack

I agree. Although the first three years of the Plymouth Valiant were good looking overall, the grille used for the cars were (in my opinion) less than attractive.

Thus the case for the Dodge Lancer
