Charlie Smith was my Father, we lost him years ago at the age of 57. My name is Brian Smith, my uncle Russell Smith and I really enjoy listening to these old broadcasts, sure brings back memories for us both. The 60s, what a time for baseball.

I am a lifelong Mets fan. I started following the team in 1965 when I was 6 years old…this brings back fond memories of when the Mets were still in their infancy…

Cool you can hear the vendors in the background of the broadcast-‘Hot Dogs, Ice Cold Soda’⚾️📻🌭🥤

Love how you can still hear the airplanes flying over the stadium which would be a staple during all radio and tv broadcasts. After a while you just became accustomed to it.

In the first game of this doubleheader, Yogi [Berra] made his final appearance as a player. Primarily a coach, he caught the entire first game, going 0 for 4, and committing an error on a dropped foul pop hit by Ed Mathews, who, given new life, singled, driving in Felipe Alou. All three players, Berra, Mathews, and Alou, would manage in the majors. Berra and Alou would manage their own sons [Dale and Moises, respectively].

I started being a Mets fan in 1970 and I love learning about the team from a time earlier than that

Oh, you’ll love this channel then. They go all the way back to the beginning of the franchise. There are tons of Polo Grounds games on here.
