That sounds like a 300. She sounds good. I didn’t even know you could swap B75 parts and all onto a later R model frame.

@davidbowser2395 not factory, the 1965 B model cab and hood was placed on a 1977 R model frame. The 1977 frame was factory installed with a 285 maxidyne

Interesting, love to see how the cab mounting is done, how they kept a B steering column with an R steering box and the rest of the details. I've seen a few that were the other way around using a Mack BCR kit, but that was pretty much a bolt on

@joecummings1260 this truck has a R model steering column as well. It's routed just how a r model is thru the cab fire wall to the steering box. The truck turns really well unlike most R models I drove

@@Maddogtrucking Yeah I rewatched it and saw the R Model steering wheel. Pretty cool truck. Any idea when it was put together?
@Maddogtrucking2 ай бұрын
@joecummings1260 I don't know. It was from Arkansas on a farm. It also had a sleeper on it at some point as the rear wall has a patch panel. When I bought it you could tell someone took the bunk off and shortened the frame.

What is a Mack BCR kit? Thanks. Take care.
@Maddogtrucking2 ай бұрын
@carlcarlamos9055 the bcr was a kit offered by mack to update your b model to a R model. It consisted of a new hood and cab that bolted to your existing b model frame.

If it's a '78 with the factory drive train there's most likely a Maxidyne under the hood.

Sweet! Curious if thats an original Thermodyne. I'm almost too young at 57 to remember many Thermodynes or their sound, but this reminds me of a more modern Mack motor sound. Either way, its fine music to many ears! Thanks for posting; from a fellow CDL holder, railfan and HO train and vehicle modeler from just north of the Cheddar Curtain. Subscribed!

Good ear. It's actually a 285 maxidyne. The frame is from a R model. It also has power steering
@evad12 ай бұрын
@@Maddogtrucking Copy on the 285. I just didn't hear what I call Thermodyne "slap" versus Maxidyne "growl" and it caught my ear. And so, so, many wished for that power steering when that cab and hood were new. lol They could only dream. Looks like it fit pretty well. One sharp ride and sounds fantastic!

@evad1 definitely...my 711 thermodyne has more crackle with its higher compression.

I would love to talk to someone. I am pretty sure this is the truck my late dad built. We have been trngto find it. We know the history of build.
