This car is now for sale! Has a barely broken in 11:1 493 stroker. Located in Oklahoma City, OK. PM me for details.
rover.ebay.com/...
This is up to a little over 5000 rpm - roller valvetrain probably has over 6000 in it. Still working on a few bugs, so I haven't really pushed it yet.
Engine is a '77 440 block (+.030) with KB 10.3:1 hyper pistons, Edelbrock RPM heads, Comp 308R (262 @ .050/.575 lift) solid roller cam, Weiand tunnel ram with Holley 4160 600 cfm carbs. Summit universal 3" X-pipe to Magnaflow 11229 mufflers dumped at the axle. Mopar 8 3/4" (489) rear end with 3.91 suregrip gears. Trans is a 727 built with Hughes parts, Turbo Action "Cheetah" reverse manual valvebody, and ACC Boss Hog 3600 stall converter. Color is a BASF single stage urethane enamel called "Red."
Camera is a Panasonic DMC-ZS3 - you can watch the video in HD. I accidentally left the wind filter setting on, so you don't get as good of sound quality with this one.

Yeah, I think you're right - I'd definitely go with a 950 Dominator or something on a high rise single plane for pure racing, but the 2 x 600s on the tunnel ram was partially for effect for the overall car. I do have a Holley 850 DP and a Mopar M1 sitting around (reference the Homebuilt video I have) that I used for start up...I could always mess around with that. This video was also taken only a couple months after I'd gotten it running and hadn't really done much meaningful tuning yet...I've

Thanks man! No fourth gear in this sloth...it's a 727 trans with a reverse manual valve body. One of these days I'll get a full up go in the thing on the Tube. CRF450 = one awesome bike.

Sorry for the late reply...I'm actually a big fan of the Magnaflows and this is the first time I've used them. There is no drone and they're not overly loud (as far as a 3" x-pipe dumped at the axle set up goes...), but they'll get attention when you start up. But it definitely seems to be a true representation of how the engine actually sounds, as opposed to how the muffler itself sounds (like a flowmaster or something).

I've watched this video a bunch of times. I am currently building a 440 for a 69 Super Bee. I am going to run a Preformer RPM and Holley 850 vacuum secondary to start with but, plan on switching to a Weiand tunnel ram and 2 Holley 600 vacuum secondary carbs. What jet size are you running on the primaries ? and what power valve on the primaries ? Your answer would save me a lot of trial and error. Thanks in advance. Will.

Yeah normally the heads are the most important when it comes to carb choice, i've seen little 340's and such that were running a 850 holley, the heads need to be able to move all that air. He's got a VERY solid heads/cam/intake setup, he can get away with over 1,000 cfm.

Ahhh, whoops again. In that case it's too much. He has a 446 engine and according to a few sources, even on the high side at 6000 rpm it should be between 650cfm(street carb) and 850cfm(racing carb). I've heard that bigger isn't always better and if it's too big it can actually hinder performance.

Whoops lol, I thought I did ... No offense to them but I thought a 440 or whatever it is would be faster then that. I think he needs a bigger carb then a 600cfm on a 440+ engine. Probably at least a 750cfm. Hell, I've seen 750cfm carbs on 350s ... An engine that big needs to breathe!
