I actually owned a 1965 olds starfire in 1975. I payed $75.00 for it. Had some minor body issues but it would burn the right rear off of it. A 425 cubic inch engine. I was 17 years old I had fun with that car.

I had a 65 Starfire, bought it off a small town used car lot in 1993 for 500 bucks. Ran and drove but guy never got me the title. Had it about 6 months. He bought it back from me for 550. Loved the exhaust coming out lower rear quarter panel. One of my favorite cars.

The 1965 Oldsmobile 98 Luxury Sedan is my favorite car and I fantasized owning on when I was eleven years old.

The wood vanity panel across the back of the front seat with the grab assist handles and the tissue box in the center underneath the wooden slide down door was the best example I saw of a luxury sedan’s rear seat accoutrements in any car ever. It was as though they’d examined the interiors of every historic formal Cadillac, Packard and Imperial and modernized the concept into permanent materials. It’s still my favorite to this day.

If you are an Olds fan you will see that the Jetstar 88 commercial shows the shift quadrant having a Turbo Hydramatic. Only Jetaway ( 2 speed) was the automatic transmission for 65. For the 66 model year either automatic could be ordered with the Jetaway or Turbo Hydramatic costing a bit more but worth it.
