1965 Vauxhall Viva HA Deluxe

I bought one in 1975 on a rainy night from a back street dealer in Portsmouth after I'd had a few beers. Collected it next day (I wasn't dumb enough to drink and drive even back then) thinking "What have I done?". Turned out to be one of the most satisfying cars I ever owned. Much quicker than the Minor, Mini, and Triumph Herald the preceded it, used less fuel than any but the Mini, had a huge boot for a small car, and could cruise at motorway speeds. Plus it had a proper wiper pattern, a decent heater, a gearchange as easy and slick as any car I've driven. One of the best small cars from the mid 1960's IMO.

This was my very first car. I was the AAs best customer and on first name terms with the local patrol....still remember it. The gear stick came off in my hand one day, snapped off at the base. Happy days

My first car was the HB series. I bought it for £65 in 1973 after I'd passed my driving test. Registration STC 542C in green. Took it to Nottingham as a student and it never let me down. Sold it in 1975 for £45and charged the buyer an extra £2 for the petrol still in. An excellent car!!

My first car was a 1965 Viva Ha but slightly lighter blue, registration BOH 183C. Purchased abt 1971. Married in 1972 used it to go on honeymoon and was confused by the rattling as we drove along but was not there whilst parked. Eventually found coins had been put in the wheel hubs.

The best example you will ever see! However..the steering will be light as a feather and totally devoid of feel plus have rather leisurely performance! The “Magic Mirror” paintwork has stood up well…a major selling point when launched!😃😃😃

Those number plates are wrong for the age of the car. For authenticity it needs grey/silver plates.

Did any HA owners ever have fires ? Mine caught fire and I once drove my brothers and that ignited too.
