Lou, I had one in the same color but the interior was black though. I got some add-ons from Buick for it. A under dash 8 track player, a four way flasher mounted near the E-brake release lever, and a rear window defogger fan. Even with a speedometer that shows 140 top speed, I did get it up to 110 MPH on the 'beltway' in Maryland on a Sunday morning. It was REALLY fast! The mileage wasn't so good though. Maybe ~ 9 MPG on a good day in city driving. This car weighed A LO. I bought it at the end of the year clearance for $ 4800. OH, BTW it had a stereo radio with a stereo unit under the glove box and would energize each time it got a signal for stereo reception. I put radial tires on it and it rode even smoother on the highway.

Good luck finding a 50 years old Japanese car in this shape . I had a 1976 Honda civic and the exhaust system was shot after just 2 winters while the lower fender bolt area by the door rusted away and it would flap at high speeds . Even today..... many Japanese cars still have a poor heater for the upper State winters and the really small washer fluid tanks for our winters with road salt and wet dirt being tossed up on the windshield by trucks. If you drove that car around London or in Germany........people would know right away that it's an American car just like seeing the 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood limo in Black drive past them to see the huge Fins and flame-like brake lights .

So beautiful. These cars would fly off the lots if GM could sell them now...My friend's parents' Toronado had the roller speedo, I remember being awed by it. Certainly much more exciting than our 64 Malibu wagon with the 230CI and powerglide! Love that "nail head V8".

I like the side of it because it's clean and easy to wax or wipe down . Excessive trim or badges retain pollution dust and and rain water in the cracks while there is an uneven fading of the paint from Sunlight. The front fenders have that 1966 Toronado look .

That's what I call a heart-stoppingly beautiful car, especially with the gold paint. It's too bad the original owner didn't order it with A/C, this was intended to be a personal luxury car and it doesn't live up to its potential without A/C, IMHO. I actually prefer the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado which has a similar profile but more emphasized round wheel flares and a rear sail panel that blended smoothly into the body, eliminating the rear fender haunch and emphasizing the fastback roofline. The Toronado was the first car built with a completely flat floor in many years since it was front wheel drive and didn't need to make any room for the transmission or driveline. I admit, though, that the Riviera has the more classic styling and is very beautiful in its own right.

@craigjorgensen46374 жыл бұрын
Joseph DiTomaso I agree. It’s a very nice car but it’s a stripper. A car of that caliber SHOULD be well equipped. The reason it’s six passenger is because it has the base interior. On a Skylark or something like an Impala, A/C wouldnt be Such a nessesity.
