On "My Car Story" we're at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis WI on 2-22-18 at the World of Wheels car show.
We're looking at a 1966 Ford Fairlane 500XL in Vintage Burgundy Paint.
The car's Owner is Linda Romans. Today her husband Tom is cleaning the car will share details as his wife arrives tomorrow to the show. Linda’s had the car since 2001. Tom has mechanical skills and he shares his wife knew exactly the year, model, and make of the car she wanted. After hearing the car run, this car will make most men nervous driving a car with this kind of power.

Looks like the engine is the high riser which is what they put in the Thunderbolts. Interior is still a work in progress but in some way all of our rides are never quite "done". Thats what makes scouring the flea markets so much fun.

I remember this model Fairlane very well , I sat in one in a Ford dealership showroom as my father was filling out the order for his four door burgundy 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 , that burgundy was a very popular Ford color from 1963 into the 60's , my fathers 1963 Ford Galaxie four door 500 was also ordered in burgundy.

Since my father had only driven Fords during the 1960's I was totally into them and had always gone down to the Ford dealerships with him and was actually able to sit inside the T-Birds and the Fairlane's the Mustangs and Galaxie's and i will always remember that wonderful new car smell that i don't experience when sitting in automobile showrooms of today. I loved collecting the promotional model cars that Ford Motor company would sell to customers , now they are worth a fortune.

Actually the Fairlane GT was at the top of the Fairlane line. It competed against the Chevelle Malibu SS 396. The Fairlane's interior was much more luxurious. The Fairlane GT in 66 only had the 390 V8 as std equipment.

Interestingly, FORD May have produced some 200 plus of these 427ci(R code); though not really for Road Use...Thanks Tom & Lou; just about my personal Health story with Lung/ Colorectal Surgeries and moving to Montana ( we have been Married 50 years May 3,2019)..Fortunately my Wife likes our 2007 GMC CANYON 2Dr/Two Wheel Drive pick up AND 2015 Dodge Journey Front Wheel Drive (sort of loaded options both Vehicles)........good car.....

That stroker 427 sounds pretty nasty. Alot of cam in that engine. I like the fuel injection that looks like dual quads
