Our daughter is a little taller than we are, and drives a Honda Fit (made in Japan); she noticed that the headroom is a little limited in our Camry [translation: she bumps her head]. Great thing about the hybrid: when using the cruise control, it works going downhill just as well as on the level or going uphill. Our old standard Camry tended to run away going downhill with cruise control. Tires don't last quite as long in hybrids. Our Camry hybrid came with some electronic geegaws we have never used, like satellite radio and navigation. Glad to hear the seats in the new one are comfortable; our 2012 model's seats are less comfortable than in our previous standard Camrys. [Full disclosure: I drive my cars into the ground.]

The transmission has two electric motors. They both can be used as generators and motors. The larger of the two is the main propulsion motor. There is no traction belt in this transmission. The engine is only connected to the drive axle under certain conditions. Most of the time the electric motor is running the show. The engine runs the smaller motor generator, which generates electricity to charge the battery. This is not a complicated system. It has less than half the components of a standard automatic transmission. Very simple and very durable. I recommend them Harley if you like Toyotas.
