It amazes me you can locate these classics. Back here on the west coast, classics are no where to be found. And if they are prices are through the roof.

Take a box wrench and tap that starter casing. After thirty some years of sitting some things need a gentle tap or two. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

I watch other car channels (spend too much time), but luv me a Pontiac. First car: '65 GTO convertible, 389, 4-speed, baby blue interior and exterior. Had it for two years and engine blew. Had to sell it. Third car: '73 Grand Am, Yellow Bird. Had for 20 years before it hopelessly rusted out. Fourth car: '76 Trans Am. Piece of junk. Everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - went bad on that thing before it came close to 50k miles. Dream car: '64 GTO convertible, 389, 4-speed, all stock. Dwell setting: There used to be a special tool with an Allen head, flexible shaft (part or full) and screwdriver style handle that is really handy and makes it so much easier. And reduces the chance of "coil shock." As for Atlas, I think that was a house brand for Standard Oil maintenance parts their gas stations installed back in that era. Before it was renamed Exxon in 1973 and the service stations that did repair work were replaced by mini-marts.
