In today's video, I will show you how to remove and install a dash pad in a 1967-1972 Chevy or GMC truck. This doesn't sound like a hard task, but it's also not easy. I will show you a few tips to make swapping one of these out a little bit easier.

I don't worry about it, take it all out. I've done about 1500 album. But but that's the each and everybody other own. This is my third time restoring my own truck. Cab off restoration. Done frame and everything. Gutted the interior. Complete new floor. Cab corners the works. I don't live in a convenience of an area where I can just get a new cab easy peasy lemon squeezy. You deal with what you got, and it's kind of personal to me. I've had it for 40 years.

That’s awesome to have it for 40 years. Each time you need a set of tires you can restore it! No better way to learn than do it all!

Hey Chad I finally got the dash pad off, you know you're stuff thanks for the heads up where the light switch button on top of light switch I thought that part was easy the little nuts on the ends kinda tough, but I got it out!! and so I sanded the the dash while I have every thing out like nobs and radio, so I put primer on it It's looking good !

Thanks George! Those pads can be a real pain. The angled studs on the end are a bear! Smart move sanding and priming while you had it apart! Keep up the good work and that’s for sharing and watching!

To remove, you have to use the booger hooks on your meat claws! Remember, these all came with a 45 year warranty on “UV” crack damage on the dash pad, so you just missed out on a free one. The new one are great, but they are usually warped, crooked, bent, deformed or separated from the metal backing and just look wonky. But hey, we don’t want any 7 year old Chinese kids crying because they lost there job… Either way, it is no fun and words used to replace the dash pad are not appropriate for kids under 16, unless they got their teacher pregnant already. I have a tool that know one has ever seen. It has a screwdriver handle with a metal furrel crimped onto an 16” length of large string-trimmer flex line (1/4” metal speedo looking stuff) but has a 1/4” male socket driver. Now the rub! No longer can you get the tool (Or Barrow) it from me, but certain nuts required the SnapOn extra long short socket. These are 1/4” deeper inside to fit longer studs, but no room to fit a regular deep socket. The problem is this, I bought this SAE set off a SnapOn truck between 1973-1977 maybe. They all say “Blue Point” but have no numbers and only 6 in a metal box. 11-14 dealers have never seen them. But SnapOn won’t recalibrate my 1/2” torque wrench I bought new, as on the 5th try, stickers on wrench from previous calibrations, told me it was to old and had no parts. WTF, they built it! Did the guy who design it walk out the door in retirement with the tooling & documents? They offer me $30 on trade, but new ones start at $300+. I guess I am old. Thanks! DK, ASE master tech since 78, retired.

Since you are not reusing the old pad, couldn't you just rip the pad off and glue a new one on? I'm lazy.
@ItsTheChad71
@ItsTheChad71 Жыл бұрын
The plastic is usually broken that the pad is glued to. If you had one in not too bad of shape you might.

Too many items coming from China and there’s no one to scrutinize what’s being received except the customers. It’s a shame the quality of replacement parts sold by companies like LMC, Brothers, H&H are doing to their customers and their reputations.
