Your videos are very helpful as I don't have a manual or local parts store that sell parts for these neat old trucks. Keep the tips coming Chad, they are very helpful.

Thank you for these informative videos! The absolute only thing that works in my 67 C60 is the oil psi. No lights, wipers, other gages etc. Looks like this is an easy way to get to the wiper motor perhaps. I'll have to re watch that video. Thanks Chad
@C10TruckNerd Жыл бұрын
You bet! This would be the route I would take for the wiper motor as well. Saves you some bloody knuckles. I wonder if the printed circuit board has damage somewhere on the back of the cluster if that much stuff isn’t working.
@ratrivervintage6306 Жыл бұрын
@@C10TruckNerd yes, I saw they sell new circuit boards on ebay for this, any experience with these? I have a water leak in the rain gutter down through the windshield and drips out underneath, I imagine this may have created a problem. Is the wiper motor separate from the circuit board? I haven't poked around yet, the weather is not favorable up here right now.😊
@C10TruckNerd Жыл бұрын
@@ratrivervintage6306 I haven't tried a knock off circuit board yet. I usually buy from LMC or Classic parts since they are the closest to me. The wiper motor is independent of the board. The switch is usually the failure point if the wipers don't work. The motors are pretty tough. 67 has a year specific wiper switch. Those drip edges commonly leak when the old seam sealer fails. The interior roof line of my GMC has rusted through due to this.

Thanks, Chad. Just getting ready to replace the instrument cluster in my 72 C10 and your video was spot on. I noticed a gas door on the side of the cargo box in one segment of the video. Been wanting to move my gas tank from inside the cab to somewhere under the cargo box, but prefer not to use the kits that will place it in the back in place of the spare tire holder. Are you aware of a kit for saddle tanks on the C10?
@C10TruckNerd9 ай бұрын
I appreciate it! I don’t know if any companies are making aftermarket saddle tanks for these anymore. You might be able to track down a set or even one from an old custom camper or one added on. If you watch the episode of “demo day” with my green GMC, I remove a set. I hope that made sense!

So, I'm breaking back into my dash because I'm having to redo a bunch of the wiring harness stuff and that fiber optic line that illuminates the gearshift, frayed on me. Is that something that is necessary? If I don't care about it being lit up, can I just cut it off the back and put the light bulb back in and it would still work or because it is fiber optic, is it not carrying any actual current and I could just tape it up and put it back?

@C10TruckNerd10 ай бұрын
Some companies will warranty or guarantee their repop tach and others won’t. I’ve heard of several going up in smoke and others have been ok. Several have mentioned using a tach filter. I’m not sure where you pick one of them up at. I have always used an aftermarket tach on the column or in the tach slot in the cluster.

I’ve got a 1976 Chevy Itasca RV on a Chevy p20 chasis. After I got a new alternator put it my gages spin crazily, they ALL spin besides the battery gage one I’ve noticed. I’ve gotten it looked at by 2 mechanics and the wiring is fine according to them, they say it’s the cluster panel itself but I struggle to understand that as they were working perfectly fine before the new alternator. Also there’s a green wire, it was connected to something then I discovered it burned off at the end. At this point I’m wanting to just figure out what’s wrong myself, any advice at all?
@C10TruckNerd Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay! Maybe disconnect the plug or power wire from the alternator and see if it stops. Maybe the voltage regulator is bad or the new alternator has a built in regulator on top of the one under the hood.
