1967 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado Junkyard Find. First year of the front wheel drive Eldorado makes its way to the junkyard missing its #Cadillac429 engine and transmission. Other than that it was pretty much complete. I have to say I really like the style of this generation Eldorado. Too bad GM had to make it front wheel drive. I was hoping this one would have a telescoping steering column but at least it still had the #stratobenchseat. The body was actually not bad overall and the #hideawayheadlights were pretty cool looking along with that tail end. I must say I started to think if there was a way to make it rwd but it would be tons of work. This one will live out it last days being parted out before ultimately heading to the crusher.

Whoa Nelley, '67 was the first (FWD) and these things were always dying of thirst. Yes, disc brakes were optional in 1967. Bill Mitchell was the designer of it, and yes the concept car you mentioned was the inspiration for it. I thought GMAC said his friend bought this car. Yes, pretty straight for the age and could be put back together with some TLC. No, 1968 also had hideaway headlights and they were eliminated for the 1969 model year. Yes, 429 in 1967, 472 in 1968-1969 and 500 for 1970. The 500 would be an exclusive to the Eldorado until the 1975 model year. Yup, THM425 which was a derivative of the THM400. We got the tag, we can brag: 04D for the fourth week of April 1967 production, 67 for 1967 model year, 69347 for two door Eldorado coupe, FWD for Fleetwood body plant aka Clark Street/Detroit, MI assembly, 12 for Grecian White exterior paint, 000 for non-stock/special order trim appointments, accessory code of E is for Soft Ray glass, N for power vent windows and power rear windows, M for power door locks, K for automatic climate control, 1 for AM-FM stereo. As others mentioned those are the rear reading light switches. We got the VIN, we win: H for Eldorado, 7 for 1967 model year and the rest is the production sequence. As noted before, Cadillac had very unique VIN number construction that wasn't like other GM divisions of the era. Just another way Cadillac was very different and unique. You really made it in 1967 when you bought one of these. Today, if you own a Cadillac, you bought the equivalent to a high end dishwasher at best. Whoa Nelley, '67 and might be going to Heaven. 429 and it's out of time. El-D, it's over for thee. That's it, time to quit. Was home to mice, now not so nice. Grecian White, no longer in flight. THM425 took a nosedive. Going to maybe be flat and that's that. Over 4K on the scale, it's as big as a whale. Going to get squished, and the Cadu faithful are quite pissed.

Nice find👍. Are they selling parts off it? I could use that front disc brake setup for a 1966 Olds Toronado I'm putting back together. Fun trivia, Cadillac "borrowed" the FWD setup for this car from the Oldsmobile first gen Toronado. Developed by Oldsmobile, and referred to as the UPP(unitized power package) it consisted of the Olds 425 engine backed by a chain driven TH425 which was a TH400 split in half and turned backwards with a small differential unit attached directly to the case driving the front axles. Cadillac used their own engine for the Eldo, but it's a very strong drivetrain package that was popular and used for many years in other GM products, including motorhomes. There was actually an Olds backed drag car version called the Terifying Toronado with TWO 425 engines, one in front and one in back. It ended up being rather dangerous at speed, and unfortunately was retired pretty quickly.
