Sadly grew up in the 1980s and missed the first era when it was new. Your description in both words and smiles told me all I needed to know better than any book or posted numbers. Thanks.

David here, I saw my first Camaro in 1967 on display at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto California, I was 12 years old, it was a cutaway car. It showed the motor and other parts of the car, I was very impressed. I never got that year, but I did get to own many different years over the years. My last one was a 2000 brand new V6 automatic. I liked it a lot. I had to give it up because I got too old. Having trouble getting in and out. But I stayed with Chevrolet and got a 2007 Trailblazer v 6 Automatic. It has the same gages as my Camaro! lol 😂. Very good review. I was glad you appreciated the history of the car. 😎

Gotta love the old Chevy 4 speed. I have a 77' Corvette with the 4 speed manual, and yes, the shifting is cumbersome. I hear it feels a lot better after a disassembly, a good cleaning, and replacement of worn (nearly 5 decade old!) parts. I'd love to have you review it, but I live all the way on the east coast.

My 68 RS/SS 4 speed feels great and isn’t cumbersome at all. I guess people just don’t know how to operate them properly you don’t granny shift them just shift the damn thing.

My brother had a 1967 Camaro RS/SS the same color as the one you drove, and it had the same blue and white interior. His was a convertible with a white top completing the blue/white interior and exterior. The only difference I noted was his had a chrome strip at the bottom of the side windows that complimented the lower chrome rocker panel. He ordered his car in July 1966, and he had it by October 1966. He ordered a high performance 327 ci with 300 hp with a 4-speed transmission and a positive traction rear end with 3.08 gears. It was beautiful and performed very well and actually got decent mileage getting 20 mpg highway.

Super nice ss 67. When I was 17 in highschool 1973 I bought a 67 327 2 barrel 2 speed automatic with 89,000 for 775.00$ Red with black interior could have a 69 z28 for 3,000 but who could afford that at 17 , I'm now 66.5 it's in the garage with 110,00 on the clock, same year in 73 I bought a 65 convertible GT mustang for 200.00 not running but with a new motor sitting next to it, 74 I bought a 71 AMX 401 with a tork flight for 1,500.00 What a beast it was . Sold all but I'm a Chevy guy never going to sell it.

A few things: The RS package could be had on any trim and it gave you the hidden headlights, the all red taillights, and the reverse lights moved down low. The SS package gave you the "velocity stacks" on the hood, 350 or 396 engine, stripes, and chassis upgrades. Also, from the factory, the tail light panel of a big block car would've been satin black, not body color. The 396 engine could deliver 325, 350, or 375 horsepower with different cams, heads, carburetors, and compression ratios depending on how you optioned it. Interestingly, the exact same 375 HP 396 engine in the Camaro was advertised as 425 HP in the Corvette. We own an original '68 SS/RS 396/375 4-speed car. No power steering, no A/C, drum brakes on all four corners. You bought an engine and the car came with it.

A taken care of muncie shifts just fine. Maybe that one has some worn components. Course they require more effort than new cars, what makes them fun Not all had a console you could order whatever you wanted back then, back seats were for kids not us adults If you had a well adjusted linkage and hurst shifter you could powershift those with ease Late model ones not so much. People who say they rode bad rattles etc never drove one that wasnt run into the ground They were solid as any other new car Cant think of anyone who worried about cupholders back then. You bought one to go haul azz

Camaro= A Small Vicious Animal That Eats Mustangs
@bwofficial1776
@bwofficial1776 Жыл бұрын
Nice example. Color-matched interiors need to make a comeback. Is this the famous Rock Crusher transmission? GM got caught with their pants down by the Mustang and claimed that a "Camaro" is an animal that eats Mustangs. Plymouth released the Barracuda two weeks before the Mustang on April Fools' Day 1964 but it was just a Valiant with an ungainly fastback. It took Dodge & Plymouth until '70 to really get on the pony car train. AMC also got in on the action in '67 with the Javelin, a car that's always and undeservedly overlooked. This may be blasphemy but I never cared for the Camaro. I like the third and fourth generations. The first is okay but I prefer the Mustang. I like the '69 Camaro most out of the three years. The second gen is ugly and the fifth and sixths are meh.

To each thier own. I think the 67-69s and 70-73s are some of the best looking cars built...mustang's aren't even the same ballpark, imo. That's why they call it opinions...
