Love these stacked head light pontiacs,my first car was a 66 lemans. You did a first rate job on this beautifully done baby. I have a 67 lemans as well, will be doing restomod on it with a gto drive train and turbo 400 transmission when I have the scratch. Mine is burgundy but I will paint it in a brandy wine to stay with the general stock color. Hopefully will be done by summer 26.

"66" and "67" have always been my Favs, but lately I've been adding the "64" and "65" to my Favs! They have sooo much character, not like the cars of today! I could be cruising down the drag at night and tell you what the cars coming at us were and what yr. from at least a quarter mile away! They were/are so cool! No my Friend, there are still POLENTY of us still out here! By the way I Love what you've done with Her! I think it's Beautiful! I would absolutely be proud to drive Her anywhere, anytime! There are still some of us die hard pontiac fans out here.. looking foward to some more lemans videos in the future .. 👍

i had so many of these in the early 80,s,i had a 67 lemans,it was my first registered car i was 15 when i got it from my uncles gas station,it was a tow in abandoned vehicle,it was a honduras maroon with black interior factory mags with correct center caps,326 with a 4speed console buckets,that engine was lame,i pulled it and found rotted up 70 catalina 455 car from a dude i worked withs dad for 50bucks,he then informed me after the paperwork that he remembered in 76 or 77 he blew the emgine and had another 355 put in it,je said it was out of one of those fast cars the mechanic said well he wasnt kidding i broke out the book and got the engine id and codes it was a superduty t/a 455 date cosed for 73 firebird,what a score,i modified the top end cam and carb exhaust that car went,i smashed it pulled the engine went out with my gf at that time went to the bar got hammered saw the citgo station had people after hours working on 2 68 firebirds,orange one was a 350 auto car the other triple black 400 4speed,both cars rust free from florida,he was gonna cut them up and use them for a tube chassis,i told him i had something you would die for and i will trade it a real deal 73 sd455 for both cars there jaws dropped,i showed the numbers and traded at 3am i had 2 birds,the 400 car was nice,i kept that sold the 350 car,i miss the 80,s i caught the tail end of the muscle cars and bought them dirt cheap even free,those days are gone.many nights jamming zeppelin and the doors and smokin good weed.

@bensrestorations52503 жыл бұрын
Not following your “really” comment, but the dash is the original one from the car, a lemans, i just used some 3M dinoc over the wood grain, original rally gauges, I removed the clock and added a tach, the center console is what came with the car, if your talking about the gto on the grab handle, I lost my original lemans at some point and found a gto (no repo for lemans) at a swap meet for $10, so that’s what I used
@peterheidgerd54183 ай бұрын
Wow, it made it this far in history without being turned into a fake GTO (clone, or 'tribute' car as some refer to their fakes)... But then again, this car didn't make it with original drive trains... The times we find ourselves in now (yuck! I miss the more sincere people of back then, and the styles that went with them-- NOT to forget the music!!!!!!! ...And the junk food that's no longer around either!!! Like the original Hostess brand before they closed ir or around 2009 only to reopen less than two years later with totally not the same products!!! AND yes, I remember doing a taste test of what they came back with-- NOT the same. Some didn't even come back like the Suzy-Q!! One if my favorites! Memories!!!

Very nice 67 LeMans, I have a 67 LeMans, didn't want a GTO, my 67 has a 455 with some motor work, TH400, 3:08 posi rear,3:36 gears on the way from a 70 GP, I have the jeep steering box, front disc brakes, I like the hydro boost you have, I'll be looking for one, I have a question what size wheels and tires do you have on the rear? Thanks Larry
@bensrestorations52505 жыл бұрын
Larry Umberger it got boss 338 17” wheels, the 17’s only came in one offset and 8” wide. The biggest tire I could fit without scrubbing was a 235-45-17. I really liked the wheels but may change them eventually to get larger tires. That say that you can fit 275’s under these cars with the right offset. My olds axle may have messed me up too though, word is that it’s 1” wider than the original
@larryumberger29915 жыл бұрын
I have few questions if you don't mind, here goes the hydro boost did you need a special adapter plate and if so where did you get it, and a part number and are there part numbers for the hoses and fittings or the length of your hoses, I'm going to do the hydro boost also the width of your radiator for the fans, mine heats up pretty quick, I don't have a stock radiator, its aluminum, also the rear in my car is a 1971 Grand Prix, if I'm not mistaken this rear is the same width as the original, I have the adjustable trailing arms on it as well as the boxed lower ones, I put a heavy front sway bar on it which really helped, I'm going to put a rear one on it as soon as I can find one that fits, stock won't fit now with after market lower arms Thanks Larry
@bensrestorations52505 жыл бұрын
Larry Umberger I also boxed my rear lower trailing arms, and used a sway bar from cpp, the rear sway bar bolts to the lower arms, I also went with the thick front control arm and gto convertible rear springs. My car still has a nice ride, and handles like it’s on rails. The dual electric fans and shroud is from a ford contour and measured 24.5”w and 16.5” tall. I’m also running a 2 flow aluminum radiator and it keeps it cool, rarely above 195. I may change to a 3 or 4 flow eventually, but am going to try timing adjustments first since I’m still tuning. The hydro boost came from a Cadillac, and I I simply measured how I wanted to run my hoses and matched the length to replacement hoses from rock auto. I used 1970’s and 80’s diesel k5 blazer and Cadillac as search cars. I did use a tubing bender on the metal part of the hose to get the bends I needed. I trimmed a little off the mounting bracket on the hydro boost to fit, and welded the plunger bar to the break adjuster so I could tune the pedal feel. the power steering pump was a direct fit. I plan to post some more videos of some of my project cars so feel free to subscribe. I may even make one of this hydro boost setup. Let me know what else I can do to help

@bensrestorations52504 жыл бұрын
aepjcb it’s a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I believe 93-98 will all work, just need flair fitting adaptors and a new rag joint from a box style Chevy truck. It’s a pretty popular swap for the a body cars. It’s the equivalent of a $400 custom steering box

How much would you say you spent on restoration?
@bensrestorations5250 Жыл бұрын
It’s tough to say, because I learned a lot about what I need to buy and when, like transmission choices, engine, fuel, and whatnot. I could probably save 40-50% if I was to do it again. I also painted it myself, so there’s a big price difference. Hiring someone to paint a car would cost 10-20k alone based on location.
