This looks like the long lost GT500 that belonged to Jim Morrison of The Doors. It looks to be same colour and only has the rocker stripes. He crashed it into a lamppost on sunset strip and left it there to go get a drink, When he came back it was gone and there’s a mystery over what happened to it. There’s footage of it on KZbin from a video he made called Highway

8:44, I can see some welding was done on the top of the inner drivers side fender. It's possible the inner fender was replaced and even the Ford vin would be missing. It should have another Ford Vin under the passenger side fender to verify it a Shelby. My 67 GT350 was also in an accident, but it still had the Shelby Vin tag with incorrect rivets. But when I removed both of the fenders as the car was restored, the Ford VIN on the passenger front inner fender, which can only be seen if the fender is removed was how the car was verified, and it's in the Shelby Registry.

You are correct the bubble will burst, all the boomers who wanted these cars growing up are getting into their late 60s and 70s and some will get passed on to gen z or a millennial who doesn't care about it...most of them cant drive a standard let along do anything with their hands/ With the influx of electric vehicles coming on the market things are going to change...The boomers didn't have large families like their parents so Gen X will pick up a few of these but they grew up with square bodies and fox bodies late 70s Camaro's, hence the reason for the recent explosion of 70s and 80s 90s stuff. I mean take a look at the model T and brass era cars right now, Those folks arent around any more. I have even noticed the 40s and 50s hotrods market is starting to soften... There are a lot more of those 50s bel airs Buicks and 40s and 50s trucks on the market right now with older restorations from the 80,90s that places like Maple motors are picking up and flipping for a decent price. It is coming within the next decade or so and its going to suck for that guy who paid 50-60k for a nicely restored 66 Chevelle Malibu with SS badges on it or that guy who paid 70-85k for the Dodge super Bee clone...The bubble with burst at some point, history is doomed to repeat itself
@Wixom22003 жыл бұрын
Excellent point. I said this years ago. There are only 4 groups of car collecters who have classics. 1. The super rich , like Leno. They can buy anything, already fixed up. 2. The old timers. In their 70s +. The car they own, they bought in the 60s; held on and fixed up. They want crazy money for 56 Belairs, most under 50 yo don't want. 3. Is the neighbor who stumbles upon a classic in his NH neighborhood or a old neighbor Dies and the wife wants to get rid of it like this, only not a neighbor. This was hidden. Shelby group check last owner vin, got the info. 4. Guys buying 1997 Firebirds, Firehawks etc. These are the only affordable muscle cars. 1995-1998 Camaros, Vetted and Firebirds. The market is all screwed up. I personally think Shelby's are waaaay overated. I would rather have a 1967 Vette any day. Stingray!!! Faster and sweeter body.

That car is hot as Arizona..in a 27 minute video you heard about 15 inconsistencies. And what about a plumber that caved the roof in. Then it was caved in from having boxes on it. "NEVER NEVER NEVER "in a wreck but the whole front support was welded up plain as day. Hasn't moved since 2000 oh wait 1988 oh wait it was full of rust and restored it was stolen 3 times and recoverd.Then I'm sure when he was in trunk and said "are you sure this car wasn't teal" cuase he seen the original color on the inside quarter. Then the owner said oh it faded to dark green from the sun that it hasn't seen in 30 YEARS AFTER it was restored and put up Lol. Man you call professional ford Shelby guys to look at a car with every vin plate missing and think your gonna out smart them. 2 guys telling 2 diffrent stories in 27 minutes of the same video i watched and you guys can't figure it out...this world is crazy. Sounds to me, in my opinion ofcourse. That you guys were trying to scare them off to restore. So the would sell. Which they did. Id like to have known that price. He asked for a off the cuff value. Considering if the engine was free and not seized. I think what, 35000 to 50ish Would be a fair market value, the way it sat. Even more depending on # original parts still remaining and not replacements, and the options it was ordered with. Build sheet may be under seat. My 428scj mach1 had it under the carpet under back seat. And one on top of fuel tank in like clear plastic enclosure. Torque boxes needed replaced and frame rails, and floor boards when purchased. I Found 1st build sheet when the carpet and seats were removed for those repairs. The 2nd was discovered when i dropped fuel tank to replace. That one was in pretty bad shape but could still see the options part of sheet lil rough around the edges. Dont know if that one was common practice or mistake. Had competition or manual steering but dual piston pwr disc brakes on the front. With offset shocks in the rear. 31 spline N-case rear and a top loader 4spd. I traded a 1980 lincoln mark4 even up for it. In 1991. The mustang sat in a pole barn for 13 yrs. Was put where i found in 1978. After the owners son passed away that summer, before college. It was his high school graduation gift. But he never received. Because He passed away just days before his grad party, In an accident with a school mate. It had magnum 500s for rims on it. Had an argent gt wheel for spare in trunk. So wasnt sure what was right. Had the gt package installed. The fake wood grain with clock on passenger side of dash. red inserts in seat covers and red rubber inserts in carpet. So most likely the magnums were added later. When found. The Build sheet had listed polished gt's for the rims... I Miss that car very badly. My biggest regret in life, to this day. Was parting with it. I owned this car when i was 21 years old. So almost 31yrs ago. I Guess being young and dumb and not appreciating what i actually had at the time allowed me to make such a dumb decision. Oh color was indian fire red with iridescent stripes on the side that reflected gold. When any light shined on them in the dark.. Thanks for allowing us to be part of this Discovery.

They were truthful, they wanted him to know what all it would need. If you look at the picture, the car is bent like a banana.

Wouldn’t that be cool if it was Jim Morrison’s long lost GT500?

Well, saw a comment where the vlogger said it was shaped like a banana, so, might be.

@@AutoArchaeology Didn't think so. This video just popped up after I watched one about his Shelby.

Why would Jim Morrison’s be worth so much? I know he was famous …but not even an Elvis Caddy would bring 1 Million…let alone 10M. Trying to understand?

There's a good possibility of this car being the lost midnight blue 67 mustang gt500 that Jim Morrison owned. It was in a movie and stolen in the early 70s.

The level of stupidity on the part of the plumbers. And the caretakers letting that happen. 🤦♂️

Too bad this isn’t Jim Morrison’s “Blue Lady” which allegedly also had front end damage in an accident.
