That car looks like Fire Engine Red, not candy apple red, which would be a deeper shade & metallic. Idk if it was officially called "Candy Apple?" My father drove one for sale in 1973 during the major Oil Embargo. The car was identical, but in green metallic. The original owner was asking $2,500 for his 28,000 mile Shelby in mint condition. My father didn't buy 😮

It is very well known in Shelby circles that the fiberglass quality was terrible for 1967 GT500 and GT350. The next year for 1968 the fiberglass production for Shelbys was handled by another company called AO Smith who had a different method of fiberglass part making and the quality of the parts was greatly improved.

Yeah the fiberglass probably was not happy with the tropical climate.

Ours is like that. All shelbys were super toasty no matter what. Its very normal and that's why some later cars had louvers at the back of the hood and the later built cars had outboard headlights. It was so more air could get and and hot air get out after shelby discovered the inboard lights on early built cars were causing some cooling issues when drag racing.
