In this week’s film we head off to the French commune of Annemasse just outside of Switzerland, where we met multiple generations of the Degenève family as they recounted the story of this Toyota 2000GT. The clan operates the oldest Toyota dealer in the country, and at one point Jean-Pierre Degenève owned two of these cars. He was forced to sell them both, but decades later his sons tracked down this white example outside of Tokyo with the help of Toyota. After buying and then hiding the car from their father’s eyes for months, he was finally presented with it on his 70th birthday. That’s gifting tastefully.

Sideways G yea the basic shape is similar but then again that Sam body style is present in cars made today as well so you gotta look at the finer details and that's where I think this looks a bit better than the e-type. I'm talking about the e-type coupe, the convertible is probably equal to this in me eyes.

It's so beautiful. I just want to hug it, with a completely clean and sterile microfiber suit on in a clean room of course so as not to scratch or tarnish the car in any way shape or form. The Love if feel for this car is maddening sometimes since I know I will never get one. I have too many cars already and couldn't afford one now even if I ever found one that didn't need a full restoration.

I was about 10 years old when my dad and I visited Paramus Toyota NJ. He was a Toyota salesman at the time (1981) There was a 2000GT in the showroom with wire wheels in the same color as this car. I actually had a chance to sit inside the car. I remember it being almost the right size for me. That experience has stayed with me all these years later and makes this one of my favorite cars.

Interesting that the father had a Ferrari 365gtb/4 ahead of the Toyota 2000gt. I've always thought this Toyota was the Japanese version of the Daytona (later on the same could be said for the 240z.) For years I've been captivated by the design of this car, especially the pop up headlights along with the front mounted lights in the nose. 5-7 years ago these were the hot item at high end auctions but seem to have cooled a bit lately. Still a fascinating car and fascinating video from Petrolicious.

@xxroyalxtigerxx

PJ Zizzle simply this. Go to the KZbin search, type in Toyota Century V12, ITBs and hear your ears orgasm. Nothing better than ITB's on Toyotas only v12 ever made( not ever made because the new century has a v12 I think). In the most perfect Toyota ever made. Itd be a match in heaven And it's impossible to get your hands on one, so I'd employ some japanese metal workers to rebuild the body, use art Morrison for the chassis, and put together a modern perfect 2000gt replica

PJ Zizzle I think you missed the part of having a replica built. I said replica not numbers matching original. That was the point for the whole art Morrison chassis, and hand formed body work stuff. Like I said it's impossible to get a real one at this point.

Supra it never is. Amongst many other things, the 2000 GT is not your mass-produced Toyota-Lexus. The Supra, being a Toyota, merely took bits of DNA from the 2000 GT but the real child is the LFA. Just some Supra fanboyery at work wanting to elevate the Supra's status.
