One of the great VFA grand finals ( controversial because of the umpiring). 1976 was a rematch.

Hardly! 9 years after this one. Only a couple of players were in the 1976 GF.

"Richmond Football Ground"....not Punt Rd Oval Peter Bedford Eddie Melai involved here as a player and in 76 as a runner...lol Garry Brice First time I've seen a player being held up by a trainer to take a kick. If that's John Peck and Verdun Howell then that means there are at least two Brownlow Medallists and two Vfl Premiership players on the field. If it's Alan Morrow then that makes three. 30,000 is a great crowd. Just such a pity what Commercialism and Corporatism has done to Sport.

I'm a Redleg supporter but Port did get a rough deal from the umpire in the 2nd Qtr. And the poor execution of the drop kick!

Terrible umpiring especially during the second quarter, reminds me of some of the umpires in the SANFL during the 70s when supporters dreaded if a certain umpire was officiating in the their teams game.
