The information on your video is true. I am one of Rex Halls daughters. I cried when I saw my daddy's car.

If you've never driven a Cobra Jet, they're a blast to drive. I drove a buddy of mines 1968 1/2 GT fastback many times back in the day. Fastest car I was ever in back then. Great memories

FYI: Ford made three 1968 1/2 GT/CS Mustangs with the 428CJ, and nine High Country Specials '68, with the 428CJ. I wrote the book on the GT/CS (out of print), and did the research on the Shelby prototype coupes; "Little Red", and "Green Hornet" (both on YT) for Craig Jackson.

I've owned three Mustangs....two fastbacks, 67/68 and one 67 coupe . From the outside, I prefer the looks of the fastbacks, but from the inside I like the coupe when it comes to driving....no blind spots and much more room.

I remember seeing a magazine ad showcasing the '68 428 CJ. Very impressive. I started working at the Dearborn Assembly plant at the Rouge Complex where all types of Mustangs & Cougars were built as a Tool & Die apprentice in late '68. The engineers that I crossed paths with at the plant said the 428CJ was superior to the 429 Boss from a reliability & minimal tweaking standpoint. They said the CJ was a beast from the get go.

Wow, what a story. The’68 coupe is my favorite. Glad I found your channel. Hope to make it down there someday. 👍✌️

Friend of mine back in the 70s had 68 + 1/2 GT coupe with the 428 Cobra Jet. It was white with a black vinyl top and red C stripe, sold it a few years later for a pig GTO

If it is truly 1 of 1 then this car wasn’t just in a museum, it was in Otis Chandler’s museum collection by 1990 and is in the book American Muscle (focused on Chandler’s collection, arguably the first significant and comprehensive collection of muscle cars). At some point the collection was broken up (he may have sold off the muscle cars before his passing) and I saw this car for sale in Redding California. It was a beautifully restored car then and still wore Chandler’s “Vintage” placards in lieu of license plates.

Lots of shady stories behind this car. And amazing stories! 😂

Mustang Monthly Magazine in the early 1980s showed this car with a red c-stripe, which would have been correct, given the red interior. IMO, it looked better that way.

I would have to see a cast iron block welded up where you couldn't see the damage to believe it because I don't think it is possible.

Set up correctly. Low 13 seconds by 12 if you're lucky. With slicks
