Beautiful example. I graduated high school in ‘72 so the motorheads in my community were able to pick up the absolute best of the ‘60s used pony and muscle cars to customize. We of course had groups that were purists of the Big 3 and most everyone looked down on Ramblers, later AMCs. But there were a couple of guys who got ahold of a ‘68 AMX decked out like this one and did some engine modifications and upgraded the wheels and tires. The Big 3 purists were snickering until the AMX started beating everyone in the “unauthorized” weekend drag races. Ahh… the good old days.

Very nice clean car! These were the bee's knees in the day. The owners of these had a thing, the general public referred to these as "Rambler AMX", but behold, a owner hear you say "Rambler" you'll be corrected, and sometimes scolded for your ignorance! "Not a Rambler!!"

My dream car ! Any of the 2-seat AMXs’ would be great ; but I’d have to have the auto transmission ! My knees ; & the Mrs.s’ titanium hips ; would require it ! I don’t think it would hurt the fun-factor at all ! 😅❤

To see a Edelbrock intake and carb on the car isn’t unusual. When they ran out of parts on the assembly line they would actually go to local auto parts stores to get what they needed. Anything is possible as far as parts go when it comes to AMCs.
@kennethjacobs21519 ай бұрын
If I remember right, that 390cu motor was made by ford Motor Co. .They used to use Ford parts like the stock tire rims.
@allanjechorek43819 ай бұрын
Yep. A lot of them were a hodgepodge of miscellaneous parts but the AMX/ Javelin was a pretty good car and went like hell.
@stephenholland59309 ай бұрын
@@kennethjacobs2151Nope, not a Ford 390 FE, although I spotted a Motorcraft starter solenoid in the engine bay. AMC developed their own 290, 343 and 390 V8s for the 1968 AMX.
@allanjechorek43819 ай бұрын
I’m not sure about a Ford engine? At one time they had there own drop forge and made almost every part on site except for tires,wipers,glass,interiors,etc.

Nice car. My brother had a 68. They all had a production number on the dash behind the shifter. Not a big deal, but this one has it missing

I wish that you would say the prices. When you do these car spins it would just be so much easier something for you to think about.
@VoloMuseumAutoSales9 ай бұрын
We don't put prices in the video because it is our policy that once a vehicle sells, we no longer continue sharing the price of a vehicle. If we put it in the video, then it would be there forever. So instead, we find it easer to direct people to our website where you can find the price or you can also see if its still available.
@davesnothereman72509 ай бұрын
Its Volo Auto Sales. So its most likely twice the price of what its worth or what it would sell for anywhere else.

Look at the gap in that passenger door, the vehicle was accidented at sometime in it's life and not repaired properly!
@davidkastin42409 ай бұрын
Lol the door didn't close right the first time. Out of alignment. The only good gap is a thigh gap wink wink 😁

It’s not perfect because it’s a AMC. But for what it costed compared to other muscle cars you got your money’s worth.

Better than most other cars...Javelin and AMX best of AMC
@allanjechorek43819 ай бұрын
Better than the other AMCs. I remember a lot of them for awhile would have the alternator light go on and stay on after about the first 5000 miles unless you took out the bulb.
