Any chance you can give me a run down on the basics of wiring to make the engine run like you did here?
@silvervette732

All the credit has to go to Rob @ shbox.com and Brendan at LT1swap.com, but here is the page I used to get the engine running, turning the factory harness to a stand alone unit. ( lt1swap.com/93lt1a4.htm ) scroll about halfway down the page. He has the minimum required wire list. Its like 8 total to make it run. All the pin out diagrams, and pictures to aid in identifying what's what. Hope that helps. It certainly did for me

how did you get such good throttle response?
@silvervette732
@silvervette732 3 жыл бұрын
Eliminate all the emissions bullshit, and cap or plug all of the unnecessary vacuum lines. Its amazing how little these things need to run nice. Plus all the cleaned up parts and new gaskets.. keepin air where its supposed to be makes a huge difference. Its hard to tell because it happens over time at a snails pace. But time really takes its toll on gaskets and hoses

I have a 94 caprice with lt1 can u please provide me some information. What headers did u use and where did u get them. And a 503 comp cam works in the lt1. I'll take any other information also. Think I'm going just have to rebuilt my lt1 cause 6.0 swap so expensive. Thanks
@silvervette732
@silvervette732 3 жыл бұрын
I have the parts used listed in a reply a few comments down, and as for the headers, they're Summit Sum-G9001. Small block chevy headers for my 1968 camaro. I went with cheap ones for mock up, I'll get a decent set for the build. They're 1 5/8" primaries, they're oval port not the "D" port like the heads on the LT1, but they fit great and don't leak.

im getting a lt1 /t56 from a 96 z28 from my uncle, its been sitting a while, what do u recommend i do? im putting it in a 89 firebird and i want this cam or something more agressive and choppy
@silvervette732
@silvervette732 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on whatcha wanna do with it. If its been sitting for years, I'd reccomend pulling the plugs and squirt some lube in it, and turn the engine over by hand before starting it.

@@silvervette732 just want a loud weekend cruiser, should I replace all gaskets? Also the accessory drive serpentine setup looks rough should I replace that aswell?

@@TehKneegrowplease The squarebody im workin on now has a 454, been sitting for 10 years. After i got it runnin i decided it would be best the tear it down, and re-seal the whole motor. Anything that had a seal or gasket was replaced. Minus the heads because i knew it ran well, had great compresson, and had very low miles on a factory reman . But it still gave me a chance to look it over completely, and go on from there, me personally that's what I would do. Then you can do the top end work, provided you know the history of the bottom end and that it runs well. As for the accessory drive, if you got the money to spend and shiny new pullys, go for it. I usually just run factory stuff. Sand blast them and powder coat or just rattle can them. If they're flakey obviously replace them. But a Set of headers and a nice exhaust... looks don't always matter, if it sounds good, people are still gonna look. And if it runs good that's even better.

Check the comments a down below the one with like 17 replies.. i listed all the parts in the build with part numbers, i didn't pay full price for the cam as i got it second hand NOS from my brother in law. I believe they're $350 new tho.

I'm doing a very similar build in a 1967 Elky right now. Curious on the accessory bracket hardware you have. Any information you can provide? Are you going back with LT1 a/c compressor or an aftermarket hot rod a/c setup?
@silvervette732
@silvervette732 2 жыл бұрын
Currently running the AC delete pully, i believe its a dorman part, but i don't recall the part number. Its the "large" pully, from what ive read, if you're using a corvette motor the ac is on driver side top and will work, but the camaro or pontiac version the ac comp will hit the frame rail.. i would like to have ac in the car eventually.. but i just want to get it on the road right now. 3 years into this project and its still a shell on a body cart. If i can use an aftermarket compressor in the factory spot id like to do that. Either way this was a non ac car from the factory. So i would have to get creative with the evaporator.. so a vintage air unit isnt out of the question

@@silvervette732 thanks for the info! mine is camaro lt1. they want an arm and a leg for the corvette bracket system. i still haven’t fully decided on going with the a/c setup or not as this wasn’t a factor a/c car either.

I just had to change the motor mount brackets on the sub frame. And i still havent figured out what trans im using. Running regular small block headers to fit, not the D port ones to match the heads. But I dont think im loosing much in turbulence.
