Your video on this brings back memories. I also replaced my truck filler panel with AMD and had to incorporate the same modifications to fit. In addition, I had to cut and raise the area between the filler panel and truck. With regards to the bottom window area. I have left that open. In fact, I drilled out a small drain hole. I have been thinking about adding a small tube (about 1 inch) to the inside. Then if in the future I could attach a plastic tube and run that to the bottom of the quarter panel when required.

gm put seam sealer in the bottom corners. but this is the reason the trunk pans rust out. I welded mine solid ground it down flat then put seam sealer. I did the same thing on the lower part of the filler panel where you added the small piece of metal.

These cars are like onions. Coming along and I ended up welding those edges. Not only did I spot weld it in, but I also used two part 3M Epoxy Metal bonding in between the seams.

These cars are like onions, They stink, they make you cry, and if you leave them out in the sun they get all brown and start sprouting little white hairs. ~ Shrek I just watched your video. (I need to binge your channel) I like how you attached the filler panel before the package tray. I saw you using a pinch welder. How does it work for you? I bought one and it didn't like welding rusty old metal. Keep up the good work!

@@ElrodsGarage for small simple stuff that welder worked fine, just not for areas that I felt needed to be strong.

@@GoGoGarage That's how I felt too. I want to use it on other projects to see how it does. I just don't trust it on the Camaro.

I just recently found your channel and literally binge watched all your videos in the past few days. I just acquired a 67 Camaro that has been butchered. I like what you have been doing. It gives me a lot of inspiration on my future project. I need to get her running first and enjoy it a bit. Also need a garage to do something in…. Look forward to all your future progress. Keep up the good work!

Wow, that must've been a common after market "repair". At some point in its life, my rear deck filler panel ended up being reinstalled in a similar fashion. I always wondered if it was actually supposed to be welded on the outside like that. I never knew, but it just looks wrong. Thank you for pointing that out.

Yeah, water gathers around the back glass and rots out this panel. And I can imagine anyone replacing this panel doesn't want to stand on their head to try and weld it in. I have seen where guys weld up the whole seam.
