Man that thing is rough. I am in the middle of restoring my 1980 Scout, and whenever I get discouraged by all the rust I come watch videos like this and instantly feel better. My truck at least has most of it's floors, body panels, and a solid frame.

I just now saw your first video on the 68 charger restoration. I'm about to binge watch the rest. I scrolled through the thumbnails of the future vids to see if you had a left front fender yet and it appears you do. I have an extra left front fender I was going to give you if you didn't. It'll be a little while before I learn how much progress you've made, but I very much look forward to it and welcome to the 68 Charger owner club. :-)

I’ve always wanted a 65 fastback. Sounds like some fun builds! My charger was the same way. Barely anything solid to put a jack on. That’s why I chose the rockers first so I have a solid foundation to build off of. Good luck with your builds!! Thanks for following!

@@rustbucketrestos6511 these cars are more and more rare everyday. Mine will be with me forever and will go to one of my kids. Cool thing about them is there are very few parts that they don’t make a reproduction of. Not sure how much you want to invest in it but I highly recommend not using torsion bars with the stock lower control arms. They don’t make a reproduction of stock lowers and there are way better designs now. I’ll sub and watch as you build. Feel free to reach out. Good luck.

No, it will be a 6 speed of some form. I’m really interested in the 392 Hemi w/ 6 speed pallets offered by Cleveland Power & Performance. They offer some really nice stuff that is as complete as could be. Add fluids & a battery and you can start the engine on the pallet! I think I have about a year or so before I’ll be ready for the drivetrain. I’m sure I’ll change my mind a few times between now and then.

There's a couple reasons why you want to keep the original engine. First off is its date coded for 1968 so it has value there and the late sixties 318 had higher compression than later engines. Plus a numbers matching car could add a great deal of value. At least dont get rid of it right away in case you change your mind. Great videos by the way.

I would like to see you leave it alone drive train wise if you're going to do the same to the rest of the car. I've never rebuilt a Mopar engine but I have done some fords that were (or looked) much worse than that top end. One I had a 390 that sat outside in what could only be described as a mud hole with mud up to the exhaust ports and a piece of foil over the carb. I had to use an air chisel to knock out the pistons. It bored fine with the exception of 1 which had to be sleeved. Heads magnafluxed and hot dipped fine. don't give up on it. Just my opinion and experience. P.S. Go LIONS. Ohio love here.

@@rustbucketrestos6511 No problem, has been fun to watch. I have like 3 small one minute videos of a 67' mustang I towed out of a yard after sitting for 11 years on my page. little bit of tuning and I had it running out of the gas can. Now it's road worthy. Next is my 60 Ranchero. I am going to do a full resto mod on it but I'm going to do it as if a kid were building it in 1970. So no electronics, no crazy blowers, only aftermarket parts available 70' or before.
