I have a J-160e made in 1994 buy Montana Gibson. It’s a wonderful playing guitar both electric and acoustic. The solid wood and X bracing made mine into an exceptional acoustic guitar. Mine is used almost exclusively as an acoustic. It’s a standout bluegrass and flatpicking guitar.

I had one that I bought used in 1970, but I don't recall it having the Gibson logo on the pick guard. Just another guitar that I should have kept!!

Thank You! I bot a 57" last year in honor of the Beatles ! Both George and John purchased this model in 1962. And as you know, other Brits from that era also played them. I guess that we can say that it was perfect for ballads. John Lennon's went for over 2 Million at auction. My 57' is a 9plus. I consider that a bargain at 7 Grand. Last, you certainly bring out the best of that model.

Flat Top Friday always meant that there was an acoustic guitar being featured. Although this was a very beautiful and very nice sounding J160E, what the hell does it sound like unplugged? So we could've heard it acoustically !!!

To my ears I love best a magnetic pickup in near the neck for plugging in an acoustic guitar. It just sound great to me--not a strict acoustic recreation but without stealing the soul of a guitar like a piezo does. You stick a piezo on a broomstick and it sounds about the same as it does on Gibson J-200.

All good Michael, but what does it sound like when strumming a G, D, and A chord fully. I couldn’t tell by that demo. Maybe some Zep or anything acoustic we have heard would be more appropriate. Cash, Oasis, Marley, Stones(Dead Flowers maybe)? Just anything bruv?

Probably, I have a 74 J160, bigger with square shoulders. The original neck broke at the headstock and they put on a replacement neck that was nice and narrow, narrower than the original. Mine has been between and well traveled, modified and stlll great.
