@@classicrewind2715 Hey what's going on man , While I was working on my passenger front floor patch I had to take the - dash pad out so that I wouldn't burn holes in it from the welder anyhow I looked up to where my dash- pad would go and I see Rust right in the windshield area so I guess I'll be soon but not too soon taking out the windshield and doing rust repair right at the cowl where the windshield meets the cowl ,that sucks !

@@classicrewind2715 I usually build old Aussie made Mopars but I really like the old American Gms, l love Chevells , will watch all your videos mate. This channel should have thousands and thousands of subscribers. You do very good quality work, I was a panel beater and modern cars just don't interest me. These old Gms are really well built like a tank. Can't get many replacement panels in Australia but it's not hard to make new sections . This old impala has really done a lot of miles ,drove it and just couldn't stop driving it and nearly ran out of fuel. Very nice car to drive and handled ok to. I'm rebuilding the whole suspension and new body mounts. Just finished welding parts into the impala boot floor. Take care mate and be safe .

Thanks for the advice... I use pretty much the same method. I realize they sell a different cutter that's supposed to be better. I can't recall the name of it but it's really expensive. Hi Robert. I use the company call OPGI. I had some problems with their products in the beginning. The firewall, there was definitely a problem. I would not use them for that.. they tried to correct it, But I still had the same problem. Problem was around the transmission tunnel. It would not match up to the floor pan trans tunnel. I purchased the one without the heating core. They told me that I would not have the problem with the other firewall with the heating core so they sent me out that one. (I had the same probleml) I would try Ames they might have a better product. They charge a little more money. I hope this helps. Good luck with your project! Keep in touch my friend

Hi G Paul. The only thing I noticed different on the Cowl panel was the bolts that hold the fender were in the wrong location. I did not notice a difference in the vent. I will have to double-check and get back to you. In the meantime you should try to call Ames sometimes they could tell you that they gave you the wrong panel. Maybe it is to a 68 Chevelle versus a 68 GTO. There is some differences in the body panels. I hope this helps.. keep in touch. All the best

Waiting for your cowl install video. I just got mine off. How are you planning to attach the upper cowl to the lower cowl under the windshield area? On this video you said it was tack welded. Are you planning to weld it before you put the windshield piece in? Thanks

Hi Wayne , I just started editing the video this evening for the cowl panel. I should have it up within a couple days trying to get it at least 30 minutes. The lower cowl panel, the upper cowl panel and the windshield channel is actually all spot welded together. So I'm going to be welding the cowl panel to the lower cowl panel first. Then spot weld the windshield channel. Thanks for commenting let me know what you think when I post a new video. All the best.

Hi JD. My VIN number , I'm going to remove during the restoration. When I'm done, I will be putting it back. A friend of mine restored his barracuda. He actually built a 71 barracuda and his VIN number says it's a 70. When you doing a Resto Rod it really doesn't matter... because it's not a matching numbers restauration. Good luck with your 70s Chevelle. My 68 Chevelle is all original except for the motor. I have a 454 in it. I wanted it to look period Correct. I have the original Rally wheels, original Dash, counsel, Super Sports 68 came with a rolling tack that's another giveaway. Also if your VIN number starts with a 138 it's considered a SS Good luck on your build my friend!!!

@classicrewind2715
@classicrewind2715 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alpha, I don't think the patch panel would work for the 66 Impala, if I'm not mistaken that car is wider. You might be able to section it out but I don't think it would fit from the left side to the right side. You need to find out the length of that panel. I hope this helps.
