I have really enjoyed your videos and I'm glad you are back working on the GTO. I want to thank you for the detail, especially those tips at the end of this one talking about the placement issues, as I'm considering installing them on my '70 Chevelle. Thanks again and good luck on your GTO!

Thank you for the kind words. I wish you the best of luck on your 70 Chevelle. I don't know if you ever noticed. I have a 68 chevelle. I had a 68 Chevelle since I started driving. Good video, if I do this mod I think I would build spacer plates for each end and bolt the rack to the spacer plates then bolt the spacer plates to the frame.

Sounds like a good idea. I installed the heavy duty sway bar from RideTech, which brings it out closer to the rack and pinion. Thanks for commenting. All the best

My 68 door strikers only have one washer under them. It looks like yours has two. Is that a selective shim for the striker? Or should they all have two washers?
@classicrewind27157 күн бұрын
Whatever works. When I bought the car, it had two shims now that I replaced the quarter panels on the car. I am only using one, It all depends on how the door latch fits the striker. You only have a certain amount of space before it hits the latch. As long as your door latches works without hitting , you should be fine with one washer. I hope this helps. All the best

What are you going to do where the chrome trim goes? Will the glue be visible?
@classicrewind27156 күн бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. I'm eliminating the chrome trim front and rear window. I'm only leaving an 1/8 inch Gap around the whole window. You shouldn't be able to see any urethane. I ran into a couple problems with the new glass I have to redo my corner pieces. Thanks for reaching out

@classicrewind271514 күн бұрын
Very bad fitment. If I were to do that again, I would weld a rod instead of cutting the quarter panel. I was just in a hurry to get it done. Then I changed my mind. I ended up putting kindigit door handles on. Changing the whole look of the car. I would have used the rod instead of cutting it. Thanks for commenting. All the best

Looks like the quarter should have been fit better. Then you could have used tug welding rod to fill the gap adding to the door. This is painful to watch

did those quarter panels come with the inner brace all the way to the rear of the quarter panel? if not does it affect the stability of the rear?
@classicrewind271520 күн бұрын
Yes they did come with an inner brace . The brace gets welded to the inner structure by the roof. I was surprised that the quarter panels came with the brace. There is a brace that comes off of the trunk lid hinge. That does not come with it. You will have to reuse it. I hope this helps. All the best

How is it that a kit has designed for a specific kit has brackets that don't fit??? Isn't that the whole point of buying a kit?? To me if I'm buying a kit for specific car and it doesn't fit I just return it because what else did they fuck up when they engineered it??
@classicrewind271521 күн бұрын
It should fit. I agree what else did they mess up. They built it for one car and they think it's going to work. But when you start changing the control arms the suspension and the sway bar that's when everything changes. Thanks for commenting. I totally agree with you.. all the best

I stripped my car to bare metal, can I use self etch for whole car?
@classicrewind2715Ай бұрын
If you're going to work on it in sections, that's what I did. If you're going to start body filler. I would use epoxy primer. Etching primer is porous it allows oxygen to get to get to the metal.
@NoSleep_318GamingАй бұрын
One other question, after I hit it with self etching can I keep it like that for a while I work a lot and this is my first time, will it be ok or I need to add the high build now?
@classicrewind2715Ай бұрын
@NoSleep_318Gaming If it's garage kept. If it's out of the weather, it should be fine. Typically High Build primer goes on after you epoxy primer . Do your body work and then High Build primer. Typically that's how it's done

To make less trips between the vice and the car you can use your factory trim as a template. Since you're deleting it, the trim represents the thickness, twist, and curves that you need to reproduce. Also, since the urethane is liquid, you don't need to worry so much about the base being 100% flat. The factory pinchweld isn't flat, and yours doesn't need to be either. Urethane and the flexible window trim will smooth it out and bridge the gaps.
@classicrewind2715Ай бұрын
I didn't think about using the trim. That is a great idea. Thank you for that advice. I am making it flat because I'm adding a quarter inch piece of metal from the body down to that quarter inch metal that I'm making so that's why I'm trying to make it flush. To maintain that quarter inch Gap. Thanks for commenting. All the best

245/45/18 is a 26.7" tall tire. Im running a 275/35/18. Its 25.6 tire. Im doing this same fender opening mod. i want to put a 295/30/18 up front. To Stay in the 26" tall tire area for more clearance around the fender. But need more clearance while turning the wider tire. You can add clearance front and rear with a smaller diameter tire.

Maybe a mechanic can shed some light, i have a 2017 with a 5.7 Hemi. I believe there must be a heavier engine frame or something because I’ve tried many different ways to get to this bulb and it seems impossible. Absolutely no room to get more than one finger on the back of the bulb…
