1968 Pontiac Bonneville Junkyard Find

Whoa Nelley, 1968 and used to be great. We (barely) got the VIN, we win: 2 for Pontiac, 62 for Bonneville, 87 for two door hardtop coupe, 8 for 1968 model year, R for Arlington, TX assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Arlington TX plant still operates today and produces SUVs. We got the tag, we can brag: 68 for 1968 model year, 26287 for Pontiac (2) Bonneville (62) two door hardtop coupe (87), BT for Arlington, TX assembly, 549 for Gold interior trim, Q for Verdoro Green lower exterior paint, 8 for Gold vinyl top, and 12C for the third week of December 1967 production. Suffix code YH was recycled a few times and could be a 421, 428, 400 or 455 CID V8 depending on the year and application. The "Y" denotes an automatic transmission equipped application. 1968 is also the last year for the ignition lock on the dash, in 1969 it would move to the steering column. Whoa Nelley, B body looking very shoddy. Poncho needs a new honcho. That's it, time to quit. Verdoro Green used to look mean. Inside of gold, now it just smells of mold. Going to be flat and that's that. Pontiac coupe used to be high zoot. Please don't get squished because all of the Poncho faithful including Benny and yes the Google Man are going to be very, very, very, very, very pissed.

I remember a guy in the neighborhood had a 68 Bonneville with the 428 two door and it had 428 emblems on the bottom of the fenders that's how l knew it was a 428.

I believe those molded plastic interior door panels were new for '68. Also, I believe the '67 GM cars also had impact absorbing steering columns.

Trim level mostly. Depends on the year. Both are B bodies.

Just curious...a '68 model would have side marker lights and I see no evidence of them on the front fenders. But....'68 was also the first year of the recessed wipers which this car does have.

The dolt that said you talk too much isn't proper #ClassicRideSociety material, and should be immediately escorted out with a swift kick. The majority of us want the commentary, as in my case I have either owned, driven or seen a good deal of the cars that you feature in your videos. I just found out that a longtime wrecking yard in my area was going to shut down before the end of the year, because the current owner wants to retire and play golf, of all things! Maybe I'll get a chance to wander through before it closes, even though I don't need any parts right now, maybe I can score a hood ornament or 2. Have a good Thanksgiving! #ontothenextone
