Nice to see real Stock Cars all factory metal no fiberglass bumpers etc. these cars had real style unlike today's cars that all seem to look a like.

A very competitive season between FoMoCo and MoPar! Stock car racing at its finest in my opinion. I enjoy all classic races from 1949 to 2000ish, but to me the golden era will always be 1963 - 1974 (with 1967 - 1971 being the best of that era!) great stuff!

The argument over "who" the GOAT is, is an argument concerning only 2 driver's in the 73yr history of the sport. I don't know really who was better, David Pearson or Richard Petty, I do know this though, I'd hate to have to live off the difference 😉

so, i was doing a random getty images search on david pearson and a pic of that guy came up. his name is Jacque Passino, who at the time was Director of Special Vehicles (a.k.a. the head of ford racing). he died in 2016 so RIP to him, as he was an important part of the ford racing program in that decade.

@davidthayer69693 жыл бұрын
@@Ziggy_Moonglow you are funny, you dont even know why the closest wing mopar was 22 laps down.........it was because the cars ran so lousy and wanted to FLY at Charlotte that Dodge put everybody back in Charger 500s.........so you had some Dodges in the top 5 but none were winged cars.........the closest winged car was Dave Marcis and yes he was 20+ laps down.........Mercury? doesnt matter the Fords still dominated and won............although the last race of the year at Texas, Buddy Baker had gotten his Daytona sorted out and was really have a great day.........SO great of a day that under caution as he drove past pit road he was shooting his crew the V for victory and crashed into James Hlyton in front of him. It looked again like Ford would completley shut out the winged dodges but Donnie Allision blew a tire late in the race giving nascar GREAT Bobby Isaac his one and only win ever in a Dodge Daytona.

@CudaRebelsAutoModeling42610 ай бұрын
That is correct! Dave Marcus was 21 laps off the pace and finished in 4th. Not a bad place to finish all things considered, being only his second season in the grand national series. Buddy Baker, who drove a surprising sturdy and smooth race for a change, took bronze (3rd) but was in a Charger 500 and was 7 laps down. But of course David, who clinched his 3rd title that day and race winner LeeRoy Yarbrough Dominated the event.

@@CudaRebelsAutoModeling426 At its real debut at Charlotte the Daytona had lots of issues.......not my thoughts, you can listen to the broadcasters...........they were talking of overheating issues and the lack of ability to draft because that made the overheating issues worse.........In Stock Car Magazine they talk about the rear tire shredding........per SCM everytime a Daytona would try to go hard in a turn it would smoke the tires so bad that people though they were blosing up......so for Rockingham several of the Daytona Drivers, as you mentioned Baker, went back to the Charger 500. Look, I do not hate these cars, in fact they are quite interesting.........but I just try to tell the facts...........somebody sent me a video yesterday of some Fat Moron who made a video called "EVERYTHING you need to know about the Superbird and Daytona".........his BS video of course starts with PETTY WENT TO FORD because Chrysler would not build him a winged car..........SIGH..........Petty announced his move in November of 1968 LONG before there was even a thought of a winged car..........then this idiot continues by claiming THE DODGE Daytona won 7 races in a row after its introduction in 1969. And the Superbird and Daytona won 33 races in 1970................good grief............how about the truth???????? Have a good day buddy!!!!!!
