One of the most beautiful cars GM ever came out with. In 1968, I was 23 and desperately wanted the 1968 Buick Riviera, but couldn't afford it. So I bought a 1968 GS400 Buick Convertible. They were great cars !

What a fabulous car these were back in the day. I worked for Buick in the late 60's and early 70's and these Riviera's were awesome. I like the '67 best but '66 thru '69 were all great. Beautiful car, very rare to see today.

What an awesome piece of American automotive history. If I win the lottery, I will be looking something like this. I bought a 68 Olds Tornado in 1979. It had some body damage repair that was primed. Other than that, it was in good shape. I keep knocking out the CV joints on the front drive. They were expensive to repair, so I did not have the car long. I was 25 years old and a poor working man.

Yes, "Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! Gorgeous car!! Best paint job I've ever see on ANY car! I used to be the proud owner of a 1969 Buick Wildcat, mine being in Antique Gold with a "Buckskin" vinyl roof & vinyl interior! A 430-4 too! Dual exhaust, positraction (?). I might have considered a Riviera (not Rivera!!) just like this one, but it lacked 2 doors! I would only buy a 4 door car!! People need to get into the back seat via DOORS! I'M 82 now but was 29 when I bought my LOADED Wildcat - $4711 total cost, tax & everything! Wonderful car! Even got 23mpg on the highway once! Might have considered an Olds Toronado, but it too lacked 4 doors! Maybe I should have considered a school bus!!! "Gesundheit"! OH, this car had to be a re-paint job, as typical cars were not nearly as nice as this one!

I live in the UK and have always loved the sleek look of these old "Land Yachts" especially these old two door coupes. These cars were never exported to the UK, but I did see quite a few of these old "Classics" back in the 70's. I saw one of these old Riviera's around 1983 and it was in beautiful original condition. It was a light metallic blue colour, and to me, it had a very "Futuristic" look to it. I have since been to many "Classic Car" shows over here, but there are not many of these late 60's early 70's Coupes left over here. But there are plenty of cars from the late 50's thru to late 70's. Also cars from the 80's up to the present, but none of them have the appeal of these old cars from that "Muscle Car" era.
@freesoul33713 жыл бұрын
I don’t see that Riviera as a land yacht. It’s a coupe and not that big. There were so many car produced that were way way bigger than cars of that size.
@garydunn30373 жыл бұрын
@@freesoul3371 I suppose you would class the Riviera as an "Intermediate" or as we would say, a "Mid Sized car" However, in this Country cars such as the Riviera were huge in comparison to what we had back then. I must admit that those "Full Size" cars you had back then, such as the Cadillac Fleetwood, and Coupe De-ville, and the Lincoln Continental were really big cars. I saw a Starsky Ford Gran Torino some years back at a Classic car show, and was amazed that this car was classed a "Mid Sized" yet it seemed huge to me at around 17 feet long and 7 feet wide. Even Big cars here in the UK were very small in comparison.

The 73 455 boat tail was the nicest Riviera Buick ever made. With a 4 spd manual transmission, limited slip positraction rear end, and an upgraded, extra large 4 wheel discount ABS system and 17 inch wheels with premium steel belted radial tires, THAT is a true gentleman's hot rod!
@craigjorgensen46373 жыл бұрын
By 1973 they were smogged up and lost much of their power. The 73’s also had the ugly 3 MPH bumpers. Sorry, no 4 speeds or ABS were available on that model!

I'd have to assume it's sold, else Mr. Barbone would certainly follow up on the questions posed. It's always appreciated when a potential buyer can get additional info on a car for sale on the Internet; it also makes complete sense from a salesmanship perspective; but in this case, a potential buyer is left completely hanging.
