My first car at age 17 in 1975 was a 1969 Dodge Charger 383 magnum 4 speed. I paid $1,200 for it and sold it two years later for $1,000. I haven't stopped crying after all these years.

That's almost 6 grand with inflation but considering it was only 6 years old that's a great price. Was originally 23k with inflation. Nowadays a v8 sports car is like 35k. If we were to remake the charger with our cheap simplified manufacturing i bet we could make it for like 15k. The technology, crash and electronic safety crap and all that makes them expensive.

No reason for it not to be a car you use. In that condition its worth $40k-$50k AT MOST. Very cool car though and I hope they continue to restore it. Not saying they need to do a full resto but at least get all the rust off so it doesn't just rot away.

In the future: ya see kids, automobiles had a type of heat engine in them, called an internal combustion engine. Yep. They would harness combustion. Here's what that sounds like. You are hearing reciprocating pistons and a synchronized valve train at work. What's that? The combustion would smell? Yes, but we liked it.

My friend in high school , became highway patrolman around 73 and used to let me ride some nights against rules in his new Dodge Polara 440. It would barely spin the tires but seemed to have an "extra" passing gear i have not experienced since. I think it shifted again over 100 mph and I made him come off it around 120, but still had lots more. It had a strange single huge exhaust pipe in the middle., looked like something on a bus , never seem another. It had top end from heck. I was driving my moms 69 thunderbird 429 4v. It was very strong , never afraid to pass and beat lots of muscle cars on top end. .

Original rims would look great, but it's his car. If he likes the rims, it makes it unique to him. I remember buying Torque Thrust D rims and I ended up going back to stock hubcaps on steel wheels. It looked badass, but it just wasn't for me. Period correct aftermarket wheels look good, but they may not be for everyone.
