That body style Mustang was perfection, I don't understand why car builders can't just admit when something is aesthetically beautiful, and leave it alone.

The 69 Boss 9 Is hands down the baddest most desirable Mustang of all time ! The 4 head light front end with side scoops and sexy fastback lines was over the top.! Then you pop the hood and that wall to wall Big block Hemi makes your jaw drop! What a Machine ! Too bad Ford didn't offer the Boss 351 in the 69 Mustang Lineup also !

As a teenager in the 1990s I watched a 69 boss mustang slowly rust away over the years just down the road from my mother’s home in Pennsylvania. Every time we would visit I would walk down the road to peek in the window and stand and stare at it with dreams of restoring it! I often wondered whatever happened to that beautiful piece of machinery! 😢

In '69 G.M. built 3 C.O.P.O. variant RS Z/28 Camaros for dealership display purposes only, not for sale to the public. They were meant to demonstrate to customers what was possible. The cars came equipped with 4 wheel disk brakes, dual four barrel cross ram intake, off road camshaft and were painted in Tuxedo Black with white Rally stripes. It is my understanding that one was destroyed, one is 'whereabouts unknown' and the third went at auction years ago for $1,200,000.00. It is the rarest Camaro ever built.... 'whereabouts unknown' is my dream car. As I am currently saving up for Kraft Dinner and wieners I'll have to put that on the back burner. 😆

Back in the day I had an opportunity to trade straight up my 1970 Mach 1 Cobra Jet for a BOSS 429 just like this one. 1975 and the dealer couldn't give it away. I took it out for a test drive and found out why, compared to my car it had terrible street manors and was slow. Only when I got it out on the highway did it show it's stuff. Now I wish I had either of them. Traded in the Hot Rod for a wife 40 years ago, still have the wife. 1970 Mach 1 Cobra Jet.jpg

Never understood why Ford de-tuned the street version of the Boss 429 engine so bad. If you wanted to keep up with the Hemi powered E-bodies from Mopar, you had to do a few day 2 mods. Headers, a bigger carb, a more radical cam, and adjusting the timing got you a low 12 second car. A stock Boss9 ran low to mid 14's...not impressive at all considering the price of them compared to a 428 CJ/SCJ Mustang

Damn man, I love a lot of old muscle cars, but a 1969 Boss Mustang is absolutely my favorite car ever made and I'm not a big Mustang guy either outside of a 67 or 68 Shelby or a 71-73 Mach I or a 1970. Other than that, I'm not a huge Mustang fan, however the newest ones looks pretty nice as they look like they were modeled off of the 69 much like the new Challenger is based on the old model. One day I will own a 69 Boss 429. Unbelievable.
This is the only mustang I have ever liked, 20 years ago you could get these numbers correct for 65 grand. Now the collective group has grabbed them and they 300 grand. They made very few and like all 60's muscle cars they are good for two optics and straight line races.

Undercarbed, under cammed , poor mid range, super cold starting and poor breathing, they were rushed into production in 69 to compete with the 426 hemi. Do I wish I had one? It was a good trade. You'd never get over killing a small child. I wrecked my first car, a 1971 Mach 1 to avoid hitting a tiny child too - and this baby girl was too young to talk. She ran out from behind a car parked on the side of the road. I barely missed her. Her mom was on her porch talking to a friend and not paying any attention to her baby girl. Luckily, my car wasn't totaled. Unfortunately, I only had liability insurance so I never got the fender and grill fixed. The mom was crying saying thank you, thank you.... I was a well mannered high school senior. But I was also pissed off. I shouted at her, "Watch your child!". I was not mad because I wrecked my car. But I was furious because I almost killed a small child - a child she was supposed to be watching. I had nightmares about that for a while even though the kid wasn't injured.

I think it is a shame that Ford went to all the trouble to build such a thoroughbred of a car and then basically nuetered it. This car had the potential to be the baddest musclecar ever built. The motor was a mismatch of parts. Street Hemis were finicky also but all the parts were there. A good super tune and they were unstoppable. You could not super tune what was not there on the Boss.

Man, Get someone who knows their stuff??? The BOSS 429 engine was not related to the Ford F.E. series engines at all. The Boss 429, was a Canted Valve, Semi-Hemi (385 Series V8 Engine) related to Ford's 460 V8...These cars when brought out had 3 weaknesses: 1.) They needed a much Bigger Carburetor... 2.) The Engine needed a much more aggressive Cam because of it's Monster Hemi Heads and Intake & Exhaust Ports ... 3.) There was just too much weight over the front of the Car. This engine should have been put in Ford's Torino instead of the Mustang. With the correct Carb & Cam setup on these Cars, then watch out because this engine was a Monster. It would literally eat anything on the road at the time.

Ford was pretty stingy with their high performance engines in street cars compared to manufacturers like Dodge, Plymouth, and Pontiac. And I agree. This engine should've been put into Torino's and Cyclones instead of a Mustang. I'm a Ford guy but I'd still take a Mopar 426 Hemi or a 440+6 over anything Ford or GM had in that era if I was buying a car just to race. Probably a 69 A12 440+6 Roadrunner

@@jeremythompson9895 a stock 440 six pack Roadrunner car, will not outrun a lighter 1969 or 1970 428 Super Cobra Jet Mach 1 Mustang. Probably the fastest Mopar car would be a Hemi Cuda as long as it was running right, or a 440 six pack Cuda. We're all talking stock specifications back in the day. I watched a video of a 1969 Boss 429 run a 13-6 on stock polyglas tires. At 104 miles an hour roughly. Is a roadrunner 440 six pack running faster than that stock? Not that I have the money, but in another parallel universe I'd like to put a set of Kasse heads on a 460 and put it in a '73 mustang. I never liked the the 73 shape mustang much in the past but now I think they are quite attractive as they've aged. I'd fit the motor in and make it look like it was factory. The other thing is it would probably much more easily fit into a later shape mustang too.

Overall, hydrogen-powered engines have the potential to produce significantly more power than gasoline engines. For example: If the Boss 429 was powered by hydrogen, it would likely produce around 1500 horsepower and 1200 lb-ft of torque. This would make it one of the most powerful engines ever produced.

My favorite pony car. Looks nasty. I just wish they put some power into it to match the menacing looks.

Did the 69 BOSS 9's have the color coded hood scoops? I know the 70 BOSS 9's did, but thought the 69 hood scoops were always black.

69’s were colour coded 70’s came with the black scoop

I don't think they were slow cars, but rather not as fast as they claimed to be. Big difference.

I like the 1970 429 that went back to the 2 headlight and recessed the rear plastic lens a bit deeper than the 67-68 but kept the 3 bar style . The 70 Boss 429 went with the Black scoop after the complaints from the 69 over the touch-up paint from sand and debris chips that stood out , going black on all of them meant just one touch-up colour plus pre made scoops not having to be colour matched .

Very nice but a 1969-70 Mach 1 with the 428 super cobra jet was quicker and less expensive.

385 series big block, not an FE. They were highly detuned for the street. To make those Hemi type heads breath, you need a bigger cam with solid lifters, bigger carb, higher compression and a set of headers. More displacement wouldn't hurt either, stroker crankshaft maybe.

Actully the 428 cobra jet were fastest v8s in America at the time.
