1969 GTX Heater Removal. Not a detailed document on removal but I do point out some of the key elements to removing the heater box and the heater core. This is not an AC car. Heater only. The heater core will be replaced in video 2

Got mine out yesterday in about an hour and a half. A/C box has 2 more firewall nuts. Very heavy, might be full of fossils, rust and water. I will find out today. Nice nest was on the top of it. Good time change the wiper bushings, wiper motor and check the dash wiring. Thank you Campbase.

Leaf blower will get most of it out. Good idea to just take it all apart though, since you already had it out, and replace the gaskets. I think it is something like $30 on eBay for the "small" kit. You don't need the big one, since yours looks complete with fasteners.

I know what that box is. It's for your dash speakers

I used a shop vac attached to a curved radiator hose with a good bend in it.

Chris Page Thanks Chris. It definitely looks like an issue that was overlooked by Plymouth.

I see you got it under shelter now. Could a hose on a vacuum cleaner be able to reach in and remove the debris in the cowl grill? "Heater core" is the name of the componet that's leaking.

1962pjb I don’t see an access point. If there is one, it’s well hidden.

1962pjb Yes, I moved it to my parents house. It’s located about a mile from my house.

Campbase A closer location sure makes it handier! It occurred to me that if you still have the heater box removed that if you blew compressed air from an air nozzle through the top of the grill it may blow the debris out through the openings where the heater box vents mate up to it. When I first got my Road Runner, it had a whistling sound, like a reed valve buzz, when the driver's side vent was opened. Come to find out that a foam handmade gasket was installed between the seal on the vent duct and the steel body. It didn't need to be there, so I removed it. That sure was a strange thing to find. These old cars have had so many "hands" working on them over the years that you'll never know what surprises are in store! You've probably found a few yourself. 😊

1962pjb Some good ideas. I’ll see what I can do with an air hose. I tried to wash it out through the front vents earlier. I’m Not sure where the degree and water went actually.
