@@CoinHELPu you miss understand...im am saying that they( ddo cents) appear to be tripled as in one doubled die over a coin struck by something else. whether it was a 69die or something else can only be determined by comparison of the end product to each other,as to see/ find anomalies. then run a graphic overlay formula/program of known die pairs assuming there is a variable :)-R.R.

@CoinHELPu: I found two 1988 WAM/flared G No Mint Mark Lincoln pennies cleaning out my late father's effects. Would you believe rolled up in a sock? What do I do to have them certified as such? One retains a coppery look, the other is brown but has that odd darkening on portions on front and back. Ebay is no help, as I have no way of knowing if those prices are realistic. My sister and I could use some guidance as to whether it is worth sending these off to PCGS or not. We are just trying to sort out what we found in (more than one) sock/s. Many thanks! GH

You need to find a professional who will look at it in hand. I can’t help you online with questions like that, but don’t use eBay for anything like looking you your coins. It’s not a mint error resource and there’s a lot of crooks.

@CoinHELPu5 жыл бұрын
Because mechanical doubling is damage to the coin from the die, a doubled die is a coin struck with a die that is already doubled so it was created with a doubled design. DD's are varieties.
@mikewhitson2214 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Daniel, I appreciate your explanation on the 1969s, I have one question,the top ridge's of the letters will wear down over time leaving just fat letters is this still a double die coin?
@CoinHELPu Жыл бұрын
The die is doubled THEN it strike the planchet to create a doubled coin, so wear can't create a doubled die since the coin is struck by a doubled die.
