I have a 1970 Martin D-28. It has that canon thunder report, deep and loud. The D-18s have a brighter sound, which I really like. The mahogany back and sides give the D-18 a nice, ringing sound. Definitely different from the Indian and Brazilian rosewood Martins. I've never been able to tell the difference between Brazilian rosewood and Indian rosewood. I think Martin guitar enthusiasts are more interested in the fact that the Brazilian rosewood was discontinued, giving the guitar more appeal and value. I've owned both and I couldn't hear any noticeable differences in the overall sound. Just my take on it. Nice playing by the way!!

Nice playing Allen. I bought a new D18 last year to use while my 2 other Martins went to the shop for refretting. It's the most amazing guitar I've ever played.
