About cars I know nothing. Never built a model of one in my sixty years. Planes and ships, that's me. But that is a gorgeous looking vehicle and a great build. Thanks for the upload and now I feel the need for........a car kit! Greetings from the UK and stay safe over there.

Probably the most beautiful mustang built next to the '67 Shelby GT500. Looking into decorating my living room with shelves on the wall. Gonna try to pick up model building as a hobby and display them on the shelves. Might make this my first build.

Doug, I'm building the 70 Boss 429, Revell Kit 85-2149. Lots of the same parts, but the mold is different, no skink marks on the C pillars. The mold lines, however are the same. Like your rendition of the 69 Boss. Great work, as always. Thanks for posting.

I agree that normally it's the best idea to scrape painted surfaces in order for them to adhere with glue, but recently I've been using micro industries (I believe?) extra thick insta glue rather than scraping the paint off and it works pretty darn good. Normally, on non-painted surfaces it'll adhere in like 30-60 seconds, but with painted surfaces it only takes about 10 min and it's not going anywhere. Then you run less of a chance of it looking like crap.

I had a hell of a time attaching the rear with the tailights to the body. The interior was a very loose fit to me as well . Just a warning to anyone who buys this kit. Other than that it's a beautiful looking kit.

how do you decide whether or not to paint something before assembly or after?
@RightOnReplicas2 жыл бұрын
B, Most items should be painted before assembly and the gluing surfaces scraped clean before putting them together. Some sub-assemblies are painted as a unit like an engine block, heads, oil pan etc. There are cases where you assemble larger units like a military vehicle or airframe and paint it afterwards but even there you should paint addon items and interior components (cockpits, turret compartments ahead of that. -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug

Now Doug, I thought u said that u didn’t use the hood mask..... did u use the hood stripes for the surround or did u mask the hood surround & paint the stripe in ? I had a problem with the hood stripes & I’m repainting the car now yet I’m apprehensive about trying the hood stripes again..... they are delicate. Any help would be appreciated.....thanks , Chris

Hey, I was wondering if you have to wash the car first, i am building this right now, and I am wondering if i should wash it. Also I was wondering if you recommend buying an air compressor, im working with spray paint
@RightOnReplicas4 жыл бұрын
RS, Washing the model used to be important but modern molds don't usually require release agents so it shouldn't need it unless you see a film on the surface. Just a light sanding and a primed surface should be enough. Once you get the hang of it, an air brush is a better way to paint for preserving surface detail -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug

HEY YALL MODEL CAR builders. ! I do commercial HVAC and travel alot in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey area. I have been to MOST Hobby Lobbys in a 30-50 mile radius. In the last 2 weeks I have been to 3 different H.Lobbys and BE AWARE ! ALL NEW offerings at Hobby Lobby is now $39.95. Yes, they still have their older inventory marked at $24-$29.95 but once they purge those kits, expect to pay the updated price. I was at Hobby Lobby close to Willow Grove,Pa. Their once a month 40% off ALL plastic kits is in effect till the end of the week. I COULD NOT HELP MYSELF !LOL . I went in to ONLY return 2 testors spray paints and walked out with 2 Testors Spray paints, 1 Revell 69 302 Boss Mustang and 1 Revell 69 Chevelle SS 396. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO DISAPLINE AT ALL ! I have been on a car model buying spree since my local Walmart started carrying AMT Car models .I CANT STOP MYSELF ! Over 200 unbuilt kits still going. Question, do I like building or do I like collecting, cuz I'm 60. IF...... I stopped buying anymore kits and made a point to build 2 kits per month, they will be putting me in the hole b4 I make a dent in my inventory. 🤪☝

Speaking of side mirrors. I wonder how many modelers drill with a pin vise a small hole in the base of the mirrors, and the spot on the body where the mirrors are suppose to be , glue a piece of wire in the hole, making a alignment peg for added strength ? I do it whenever the base has enough meat to drill a micro size hole. To me its worth the extra effort. Anyone ?
