1969 Mustang CVF Serpentine Conversion

An overview of expensive serpentine conversions, issues you may have and considerations if you're planning the the change.
My setup:

I have a 67 Mustang GTA with the FE 390 and I just installed the CVF serpentine belt system my driver side fan is touching the power steering pump but looking at your video I may try to shave down my electric fan shroud to give myself some extra clearance. With that said, my original bottom radiator hose does not fit because the power steering pump is in the way. what hose did you use?

I had to get creative with the fans and really make sure they were mounted tight against the radiator and I had to remove the motor shields in order to get enough clearance. I’m pretty sure I’m using a stock lower radiator hose for a 428 CJ setup. Gates 20615. It looks like Continental 60761 is a copy as well. There are a couple other hoses which supposedly fit the engine/car, but they appear a bit different in shape. I have a solid couple inches of clearance everywhere with my hose. My sure you’re checking online prices. O’Reilly is showing $40 and Amazon $15…

Haha I hear ya… that’s how it feels with this old cars but once you sort them out there a dream to drive. I’m still sorting out a few things on my 70 Mach 1 specially those leaks lol.

@@789morton while swapping the water pump for the 3rd time, a plastic tube I was using to suck out coolant from the block popped off and dropped down into the water jacket. I tried to fish it out, but it slipped deeper in. The 427s cylinders are so big, there's a 1/3 of an inch or less in spots for the water jacket and I had to pull the head. Easier to pull the engine and deal with other issues, haha.

Dayum that sucks, it makes a simple replacement into a long one lol I been there plenty of times only way I learned. I had to upgraded the whole coolant system on my 351 Cleveland, it would overheat really quick especially here in California.

It's like whenever you want to do any modern upgrades it always ends up causing a domino effect of other issues!

It's usually true. From tolerances on vintage cars to design issues or even modern manufacturing shortfalls, getting everything to play nice together often takes some creativity.
