I've never used panel bond on such a large surface. Very creative so far. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Great project, I've replaced both my quarter panels in my 69 Mach 1, and I'm about to the the same in my 70 Mach 1

I agree with Don, weld the vehicle together, that's the best way for proper repairs to any vehicle. I have seen the most recent products that body technicians are using today. There's a great product that will remove dents from the body without drilling into the panels. It adheres to the paint too! Totally awesome!!

Check out Fitzy's Fabrications ono the subject called "Cut and Butt". You'd never be afraid to butt weld again. Also, if Dan from DD Speed Shop can do the cut and butt method you can do it. :-) Lapping on a curved and seemless quarter panel... Please do check that "cut and Butt" method that Fitzy explains and shows very concisely. You'll dig it.

I do the cut and but but I use a body saw gap is smaller than the cut off wheel no warping.

Panel bond is a terrible idea. You should weld it together. Yes takes longer, but you have a classic car that should be preserved correctly. Sorry this is negative, but man, never would do that in a million years.

What’s you issue with panel bond? I’ve used it multiple times in the past with no issues short term or long
@donsrestorations2 жыл бұрын
@@resurrectionauto5714 This is basically the lazy man's way of repair. Scab 2 pieces of metal together with sheet metal screws or rivets and then seal the edges. I know you would not do this quite that crudely, but there is still metal overlap which then you must use filler to smooth over to make it 'look' like one piece. Why not just take the time and do it right instead of expeditiously? Like I stated, a classic car needs to be restored correctly.

Its glued together,if the car was manufactured that way yes,but this wasn't

Why pannel bond instead of but welding?
@resurrectionauto5714 Жыл бұрын
Quicker process, no chance of warping panels.

Its shit panel bond, perfect for a door skin,but for a structural area of integrity of the car,no way mate,its a half done job, strictly for cosmetic looks,it doesn't do the vehicle justice,nor does it do you justice taking a shortcut

What a total mess. Welding is the only way . Your measurements are going to be way off.
