Daytona or bust. My last ditch effort to get the car together and on the road. We will either make it or we won't, but will be a good adventure either way.

First convertible I ever drove was a '69 Fury III. B5 blue, white interior & white top. Bought by a high-school friend for $300. He didn't have a drivers' license, nor did the car have brakes; so he asked me to drive it from the shed where he'd bought it to the high school auto shop. Luckily, it was only a few blocks but it was a beautiful morning - so I put the top down. We filled an entire 60-gallon garbage can with peanuts that were stashed under the back seat by some rodent. The car met it's end one night when my friend decided to drive it around still without functioning brakes. The used the parking brake with the ratchet pawl bent out of the way. Well, I wasn't there, but the story goes somehow the car wound up in a ditch at which point it rolled onto it's roof. Since my friend was.... a bit odd, he'd never actually transferred the car into his name, so he had no insurance. Sad part is I'd tried to buy the car from him several times regardless of how rotten the trunk floor or quarter panels were. The rest of the car was top notch.

I really appreciate the story. Always sad to hear when a car suffers because of our bad decisions. You may be happy to know, my daughter's first drive was officially in the fury. She was 12 at the time, but allowed her to first start it and warm it up. Then she graduated to putting it gear and slow rolling it into the driveway.

New parts in one place turning into many more new parts in other places. Mopar Diva Syndrome a.k.a. Plymouths Behaving Badly.
