1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Virtual Test Drive at Volo Auto Museum (V18986)

The Grand Prix is a handsome, luxury muscle car. This is a good unabused, rust free example. #s match, original metal.
EXTERIOR: I will say the body is outstanding. Rust free, original clean metal. Bottom of the fenders sound like tin when you knock on them. Bottom of the doors have a clean factory lip. Bottom of the quarters have clean metal with the spot weld still showing. The panels fit real nice and square. It is straight looking down either side. It was completely repainted, it does have a smooth, glossy black finish. Door jambs were painted nice, weatherstrips were replaced. The vinyl top looks like it's been replaced. The bumpers are dry originals showing some patina, the rear bumper does have a dent on the corner. The stainless moldings are straight and shiny. The remote mirror looks real good, it has the coolest door handles! It also has rally ll wheels with the original Pontiac lug nuts and correct center caps. Tires look like new.

The 69 thru 72 grand prix was a beast of a performer and could keep up with just about anything of it's time. So incredibly underrated as a performance car. I wish you wouldve really put the pedal down on the car to prove my point. My 71 was geared for 140mph and I could bring the speedometer well past that. Coming out of the hole I could burn good rubber when the transmission shifted, and what was even more impressive is that it could do all this in spite of how heavy the car was. Theres a video here on youtube of a guy showing just how well his 71 stock grand prix performs and he illustrates just how much of a beast these cars really were.

Gee, I feel even older than I am listening to this young guy describe this car. His father was probably born after it was built! I remember these when new and they were about the hottest selling car of 1969. I wanted one so badly as a teenager but on $1.60 per hour, that was not going to happen!

Letting this dude tell me "it sounds really nice", did NOTHING to sell me on the car. What works ,or doesn't, regarding things like the radio,clock,or other creature features, to me, should be established in the driveway, before the car ever left on a, "virtual" ride. Somebody driving a car they are not familiar with, and trying to sell it,seems a little off base to me. But hey, maybe I can give them a virtual cheque for it.
