That 500 cubic inch engine came in handy when the Oil Embargo of 1973 hit.

It made them cheap on the used car market. I bought a 1973 Eldorado for $400 in 1978.

Awesome! The pricing even more awesome! Though this almost 50 yrs ago.

400 hp! Wow!

At 550 foot pounds of torque. DeVille had 375HP with 525 pounds (conservative figures).

I remember being highly annoyed that GM bean counters omitted the “V” for ‘70 and ‘71. It returned in 1972.

i wish my '70 still had the V too

Gas was 28 cents a gallon...who cares if your car gets 9 miles per gallon!!

That vacuum advance disabling thing is atrocious. No vacuum advance at idle will make the engine run hot at idle and remove part throttle torque.

1969--70 Caddy dashes were the ugliest plastic dashes of all years in Caddy ....so cheap looking for such a luxury car
@d-d-i2 жыл бұрын
I think the otherwise, that driver focused dash looked so damn cool and the overall look of the DeVille on '69 and '70 were just perfect. Imo, the last beautiful classic Cadillac.

The artistic concept for the dash was very attractive but the cheap hard plastics and flimsy construction of the dash was unbelievably inappropriate for Cadillac. All GM cars had this issue in 69-early 70’s but the higher expectations of a car like a Cadillac made it seem worse. I had a 1970 Eldorado back in the 80’s and it was so disappointing when you’d sit in the car and look at a dash that would look more at home in a Chevy nova.

Wow if you don't like these dashes you must really despise the ones of today huh?

Sher would have been nice if the 71 2 and 73 would had a 10 to 1 piston ratio

I like the 1970 front end and the hubcaps for the Deville and Fleetwood. I'm making a set where they have the wreath around the crest in the little small circle and make the small circle red they should look fantastic. Getting the wreaths is very pricey. Near impossible to find new ones.
